Austinites will start weighing in on Prop Q next Monday, when early voting opens. If passed, it would raise our local property tax rate by 20%. If the measure is defeated, City Hall will have another opportunity to consider spending reductions, an alternative to the tax hike.

One of the big items on the Nov. ballot is 'Proposition Q'. Many Austin city council members support raising property taxes to help support the $6.3 billion budget proposal, but Councilman Marc Duchen has a different plan to do so without raising taxes. @cbsaustin

The sign that Prop Q is about to go down in flames is next to no Democratic electeds are pushing it. Most everyone is silent. 🀫 They know it’s in trouble bc they are hearing a lot of pushback from Dems. Same vibe as before Prop B 2021 vote #txlege

Vote No on PropQ - During my conversation with Michael Searle, I realized how emotional I am about what PropQ and City Council will do to Austin. PropQ will make living in Austin unaffordable for people who look like me. Please vote No on PropQ. https://t.co/6cw22opRi6

Vote No on Prop Q: The PropQ ballot proposition is purposefully misleading. PropQ is written to make you think your taxes will: >>increase for a fixed period of time, like a bond issue. >>pay for specific programs. That’s not true. Learn more here: https://t.co/IOJBNLkPcl
