Education matters. Learning matters. Being in school is not a guarantee of learning for every child on every day. Children can’t excel if their needs aren’t met, and driving up attendance won’t help with that. Children need better than this. Attendance is not enough.
Every child matters and every day matters. Children can’t excel at school if they aren’t even at school. That’s why Labour believes driving up attendance is a crucial focus for change: great piece by @CatMcKinnell today.

You simply cannot use a simplified tool like this to make such weighted decisions, especially in the hands of untrained staff who are not aware of associated stigma. Not when these questions are applicable to so many other presentations, especially neurodiversity and trauma.
Introducing the SAPAS, an 8-question screening for personality disorders, in primary care is a recipe for disaster. It's a perfect excuse to offroll, exclude and delegitimise patients in an already overwhelmed system with 1.6 million waiting for mental health services.

“No one wants to hear about your special interest—” I do. Tell me all about how the Appalachians are older than Saturn’s Rings or how the invention of the compass led to the atomic bomb. Life is so brief and the world is so big and we have to learn from each other.

17% of people in general adult psychiatric services had diagnosable #ADHD. Most of them are probably undiagnosed and misdiagnosed instead. Reported @rcpsych conference. #psychiatry #mentalhealth #neurodiversity

Impressed with this from the mindfulness in schools landmark study which showed it didn't work. Prof Kuyken says "we know that inequalities, deprivation and poverty drive mental health problems. And maybe we need to be thinking about interventions which help improve those first."

A new study finds that nonautistic trans people experience alexithymia at an elevated rate, just as Autistic people do. Perhaps BOTH trans and Autistic people have trouble knowing our feelings because we're used to dissociating from them due to trauma. https://t.co/DlZC72FPeI

Autistic people live an estimated 16 years less than the general population. Reasons for this huge disparity may include: increased rates of mental illness, trauma, stress and unaliving; (often fatal) co-occurring conditions; and a lack of appropriate and accessible healthcare.

A slight change has been made to the inclusion criteria for my study, and I've done away with the age range. I tried to use other studies for guidance and included an upper range, but upon reflection, there's really no need for it. Check out the study at: https://t.co/0D15ALINYA
