We build the world's most advanced satellites for high orbits.

America needs more than prototypes — it's time to scale up hardware manufacturing. And that's exactly what we're doing, right here in San Francisco.
San Francisco is the best place on Earth to scale a satellite startup. Nowhere else do you have the same convergence of capital, software talent, hardware talent, and the uniquely American willingness to try bold new things.

Astranis today builds more commercial GEO satellites than the rest of the industry combined. But we're not stopping there. We believe it’s critical that we bring back manufacturing to America and rebuild our industrial base. Especially in aerospace and defense. That’s why we

I love the @Astranis Matsuura. It was the first 5-axis machine we bought for the shop, and it's been an absolute workhorse ever since.

Hosted a group of senior diplomats from 26 countries two weeks ago at @Astranis HQ. They came in from around the world to see how we do things in Silicon Valley — awesome initiative, and a great reminder of how lucky we are to live & work in the world's tech capital.

Introducing Astranis Vanguard: a mobile, ad-hoc networking solution for warfighters and first responders. Launched in partnership with Kymeta, Persistent Systems, and Satcube.
Today we’re announcing a new product for warfighters and first responders: Astranis Vanguard. A fully air-gapped, rapidly deployable network using a dedicated satellite. In partnership with Persistent Systems, Kymeta, and Satcube. And we’ve demonstrated this capability using an

When you ramp up manufacturing, you find weird bottlenecks. For example: bending tubes. Astranis is now one of California’s best tube benders, apparently. https://t.co/McoyWisAu3

Scaling up manufacturing requires a lot of flight hardware, of course, and also a lot of test equipment that stays in the ground. My favorite: our solar array deployment rigs.

GEO is stationary no more. Astranis has had maneuverable satellites on orbit for years — and now it's time to scale up America's presence in higher orbits.

Astranis exists to expand humanity's reach beyond low earth orbit. Higher orbits offer security, resilience, and control — which is why our government and commercial partners want what we uniquely offer: dedicated satellite networks.

Orbital security is national security.
If outer space is not secure, America is not secure. Thank you to @bridgitmendler for hosting and @EdLudlow for moderating this important conversation.

Orbital security is national security. And space aggression is unfortunately no longer a hypothetical risk:

Speed is now a national imperative. And only commercial industry can deliver new defense capabilities at high speed.
NASA made the right decision when it decommissioned the Space Shuttle & worked with SpaceX instead. The U.S. Armed Forces are now facing the same decision — and I am encouraged by the "commercial first" language in the NDAA. Here’s my op-ed, published with @a16z this morning:
