Alameda is leading the way! With a 29% decrease in emissions while growing our population and economy, Alameda proves that growth and sustainability can go hand in hand. I am proud of our island's environmental leadership.

I was grateful to tour Planting Justice and learn how they are turning plants into power for youth and the formerly incarcerated right here in East Oakland. Their innovative work tackles food deserts, creates fresh produce, and builds community; they are a model for the state.

I introduced AB 1153, the Funding Clean Streets Act, because of the number of damaged, neglected, and forgotten RVs left on the side of our roads across the state. This bill assists our local governments in having the tools they need to keep our streets clean and safe.

In 2022, California became the first state to provide meals to all students because we recognize no one can learn on an empty stomach. We must continue to support universal school meals to reduce stigma and ensure no kid goes hungry.

Over half of California's youth rely on Medi-Cal. When the federal government threatens cuts to our state's health care funding, they are talking about stripping care away from kids up and down the Golden State. Medi-Cal must be protected.

I had the honor to celebrate Oakland’s Jamilia Land as part of the @CABlackCaucus’s Unsung Hero awards. I was proud to uplift Jamilia’s relentless work to abolish modern slavery, protect the dignity of those incarcerated, and dismantle systemic injustice in our state.

Exciting! @SutterHealth is investing ONE BILLION in Emeryville for their new medical campus. The East Bay is the place to be, and I look forward to seeing the economic impacts this expansion will provide to our community.
