I think I may have to start unfollowing people if they keep talking about Russian disinformation. It reminds me of the Hillary campaign in 2016, which reminds me that I still hate her because she wanted to "prevent and cure anything on the autism spectrum" back in 2008.

If the state gave everyone a basic income we could stop debating who was worthy of support. No application process. Low admin costs. Everyone gets it. Nobody goes homeless or hungry.

Civility is all about preserving the status quo. Nobody should be civil until we’ve eliminated poverty with #UBI. There should be civil unrest. For generations, Americans have been unnecessarily subjected to abuse and exploitation.

One point where I seem to disagree with other #ubi proponents is the idea that nobody should own land. I think people should have the right to own the land upon which they live. I would therefore want a high homestead exemption to any proposed land value tax.

I don't blame the women who would rather be in the forest with a bear than a man. I'd rather be in the forest with a bear than any human: man, woman or nonbinary.

Consider also that a Universal Basic Income of $1300/mo would be equivalent to a $7.50/hr increase in the min wage for those working 40-hr weeks and $15/hr increase for those working 20-hr weeks. Unlike min wage, UBI would also increase strike power and reach unpaid care workers.

There are discrete benefits to automation - 24 hour workloads, no need to provide health insurance, the ability to work in environments humans cannot or should not work in for safety reasons. I don't want to stop automation. I just don't want the 99% left behind by it.

Common wisdom says a company should spend about 15-30% of its revenue on employee wages. We could take that percentage and turn it into a tax for companies that use automation. This automation tax would then be used to fund a UBI program.

Personally, I'd rather have someone who doesn't want to work not work than do a job poorly or under duress. Automation, both physical and creative, is slowly eroding away at the need for humans to work for a society to function. We cannot continue as we are.

I personally do not in any way care if a percentage of free people choose to just live on their basic income. Every single person earning any additional money will have more total income than them and thus enjoy a greater share of total economic output than them. UBI is a FLOOR.
