The issue isn’t that Pakistan’s economy can’t absorb $1.5 billion. It can — in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, exports, and more. The real problem is the policy environment. With effective tax rates going up to 60%, no rational investor will take risks only to have the.

32 Provinces? A Dangerous Distraction. Breaking Pakistan into 32 provinces is not reform — it’s impractical, disastrous, and constitutionally undoable. Even the division of Punjab, on which three major political parties had agreed, the implementation has stalled due to massive.

The Biggest Myth in Pakistan’s Fiscal Debate?.That the 7th NFC Award “gave away too much” to provinces. The truth is the opposite. The 7th NFC (2009) only corrected the injustice of the 6th NFC (1997) — imposed by unelected caretakers on fictitious revenue projections. Had the.

Sain again thank you for your thought-provoking reply. And it is wonderful to debate an issue in a civilised manner without name-calling etc. You are right the NFC award share of the provinces is 57.5%. But then federal government is also required to give 1% to KP for War on.

One can highlight one's actions but the real test is feedback of the market. @SECPakistan has mandated Gallup Pakistan to conduct an independent (confidential ) "Stakeholder Perception Survey". I request all recipients to actively participate, your feedback matters. 1/2.

Two Great Founders — A Vision Betrayed. A powerful reminder of what could have been. In 1947, Quaid-e-Azam envisioned Pakistan–India relations like those between Canada and the U.S. — open, cooperative, and mutually respectful. Gandhi ji imagined us as members of a joint family,.

How far we have come: in 1947, Mr Jinnah spoke of ‘relations between Pakistan & Hindustan like relations between Canada & the U.S.’ . Gandhi ji said, ‘We should be like members of a joint family who have started living in separate houses.’

Dear Miftah,. I agree that both federal and provincial governments have failed to deliver results commensurate with the resources they receive, and that accountability must be at the heart of fiscal federalism. But reducing the NFC share to provinces is not the right step.

Thank you for your thoughtful take on the NFC award. Since NFC mandates that about 60% of tax revenues have to go to the provinces, it means that the federal govt, to cover its deficit, has to increase tax revenues by 167% of the deficit. This is the reason we have such high.
