3/ to place responsibility for an employee's wellbeing squarely with the individual to be more resilient and 'cope' is just problematic. Data is quite old now so I suspect situation is even worse now post-COVID.

2/ improve job satisfaction. The only way the unhappiest SLTs improved their satisfaction was to resign their role. I suspect there are people who are more vulnerable to workplace stressors but ultimately a challenging environment/workplace is just challenging. Prevailing culture.

1/ Interesting study by @SAClaire et al. in @ijlcd looking at speech and language therapist wellbeing in workplace longitudinally. No great surprises. Most powerful finding perhaps is that individuals making changes to improve their own wellbeing did not.

Hi @ollie_lovell. I just finished your book on cognitive load theory. Quick question. Would having explicit learning outcomes / goals at the beginning of a lecture be relevant to your discussion of the goal-free effect (i.e. should I remove these to avoid the means-end analysis)?.

Interesting session today on ventilators and tracheostomies (and airway adjuncts and oxygen therapy) to second-year undergraduates. Average confidence ratings about knowledge increased from 2.5 to 3.9. Lots of equipment to have a look at and play with. #mySLTday

Applicant taster day today @SLTatBCU. Busy with lots of (hopefully) future students. Gave a talk on introduction to dysphagia rehabilitation with practical activities. #mySLTday

One of my favourite days: exploring mental health with apprenticeship students (conduct disorder, anxiety, selective mutism, social anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, gender dysphoria). Consistent improvement in student's confidence/understanding of MH after every session #mySLTday
