Among the 24 million Americans who could see their health care premiums skyrocket should the ACA subsidies expire are farmers, ranchers, small-business owners, and the self-employed. Senate Democrats don't want the subsidies to expire. https://t.co/7ZAyUyAJd1

Louisiana—with its Republican governor and Republican legislature—is prepared to spend $150 million a month to continue SNAP benefits. My math says somewhere between $40 million and $45 million could get the job done here in Arkansas. https://t.co/tBlvWVtEe5

The federal government typically covers the cost of the SNAP program but is not doing so while the U.S. government closed.

@MarcusforAR Judge Johnson is wrapping it up! “I can’t simply render a decision from the bench. I know time is of the essence… This issue, the right to vote, is very important to the court. My clerk and I will work quickly. I will try to render a decision by the end of the week.”

@MarcusforAR SHS’s attorney: “The law lets the Governor shorten the deadline, but it DOESN’T let the court step in and question the Governor’s judgement.” Uh? Bro is gonna be shook when he finds out about checks and balances…

@MarcusforAR SHS’s attorneys appear to be lowkey scrambling after that development. They are talking really quickly and saying “but the Governor’s discretion!?!?”

@MarcusforAR SHS’s attorney reads the definition of “practicable”. The judge reads the legal definition of “practicable” & then cites the law, saying that there might be more than one reasonable date, but the date that is sooner is obviously the one favored by the statute 👀👀👀

@MarcusforAR SHS attorney: “Petitioners are asking the court to do something that is totally foreclosed by law.” Crazy how it wasn’t foreclosed by law in 2020 🤔

@MarcusforAR DPA Counsel: “We have not heard anything from the Governor about why she has set this election to deprive these residents of representation... And even if we had, we’d still have to apply that reason to the statute. But, the thing is, it is practicable. It has been done before!”

@MarcusforAR DPA Counsel: Can we agree that there is no where in this statute about that mentions cost as a reason why the Special Election is impracticable to hold within 150 days? State objects. Judge sustains. DPA Counsel had a point though 👀

@MarcusforAR Madison explains more about UOCAVA ballots. Says that even if there are only 8 ballots received, that’s 100% of the vote from those 8 voters. So trueeeeee? Count the votes! But that *does not mean* we can’t move up the Special Election in House District 70
