[Content Warning: More Feet. 🦶🏼🦶🏼] ... Here is the evolution of my poofy rainbow foot over the last few days. I did order an ankle brace on Amazon and have been using it for the last few days. Not sure it's doing much, but I tried.... 7/x

Got distracted again (new patient at work!) but to continue... ... I limped around all day, finally went home around 7:30... took off my socks and revealed the ankle... [CONTENT WARNING: feet pics 🦶🏼] My cat and I were both concerned... 6/x

... I successfully reached the nurse's station on our floor and asked for help getting some bandages and ice packs, and the nurses very kindly obliged. While the team was occupied with hand-off, I quietly washed up, bandaged my hands, and iced my ankle, which looked okay... 5/x

... to be fair, I figured work is literally in a hospital, so it's not a bad choice of location if I develop a need for medical attention. Fortunately, the asphalt dirt blended perfectly into my dark gray heather scrubs, so I didn't look alarming... 4x

Oops I got distracted and didn't finish the story last night, sorry, my bad. So anyway: After the initial shock of face-planting wore off, I slowly got myself up, retrieved my water bottle, and hobbled out of the street. Then... I went to work.... 3/x

I am merrily trotting along, excited -- nay, amped -- to seize the day... I step in a pothole, my ankle immediately snaps, and I crumple completely, landing in a motionless, defeated heap, face pressed into the asphalt. My water bottle merrily rolls onwards without me. 2/x

Okay, it's been a few days, and I'm ready to laugh about it now. ⏮️ Rewind to Tuesday... ⏮️ It is Day 2 of my first clinical clerkship. Call day. Yesterday was just shadowing; today is the REAL first day. It's 6:45am, and I am mere feet from the hospital entrance... 1/x

Here is the graphical abstract accompanying our preprint, "Six drivers of aging identified among genes differentially expressed with age." We used worms🪱 to differentiate drivers of aging👵 from passengers and compensatory effects.✨🧬 Please ask questions, the more the merrier!

Key point for those interested in #longevity research: "Notably, the data do not suggest that the direction of differential expression with age is predictive of the effect on lifespan."
