America imports 1.5 billion more pounds of beef per year than it exports. And somehow, state governments are worried that cell-cultivated meat threatens ranchers? It's no wonder food inflation is intractable. Our government both fails to support and stymies food innovation.

Being kind boosts mental health more than seeking joy. Evidence: Doing 3 random acts of kindness a week is enough to reduce depression, anxiety & loneliness. It's more beneficial than doing nice things for yourself. Self-care feels good, but generosity builds lasting bonds.

What an episode! While much of the effective altruism community has pivoted almost entirely to existential AI risk, factory farming remains one of our era’s biggest challenges. It’s incredibly brutal, totally unnecessary, and woefully neglected. Massive thanks to @dwarkesh_sp

This is the kind of political leadership we need — rooted in compassion 💜, moral clarity 🕊️, and the courage to confront entrenched systems of cruelty 🐄🚫. @RepMcGovern speaks hard truths about the suffering baked into our food system 🍽️ — and demands better. For animals 🐖,

Thousands of family farms support basic humane standards for farm animals, just as two-thirds of all Americans do. But @HouseAgGOP silenced their voices at today’s hearing. Not on my watch. That’s why, when Republicans invited Big Ag lobbyists to argue for putting animals back

Congress today held a hearing on whether to force states to sell pork from crated pigs. This is a wildly unpopular policy that Congress is likely about to enact via the Farm Bill. Today's hearing showed how Big Ag lobbyists get DC politicians to do their bidding. A 🧵...

Was Ventilation Shutdown+ Killing of Pigs During Covid-19 Really Due to Sick Workers—Or Because China Cancelled Pork Orders? I'm just thinking out loud, but hear me out: what if the widespread use of ventilation shutdown plus (VSD+) to kill pigs during the early COVID-19

Two days ago I launched a donation matching challenge to fight against corporate torture of US farm animals. The first $50k has been filled, so I am extending the challenge to $75k to help pay for a second campaigner. Wondering what the hell I'm on about? WATCH THIS 👇

Bird flu is becoming a bonanza for egg factory farms. First they made record profits off high egg prices, while taxpayers reimbursed all their losses. Now they're using bird flu as a pretext to repeal or delay state laws banning cruel battery cages.

🔥 Excellent pro-cultivated meat editorial from @Bloomberg editorial board. Closing: “Given the sector’s vast potential, policymakers should remove arbitrary barriers, unleash the forces of capitalism and let American consumers decide its fate. The planet will be better for it.”

It’s not giving “farmers” billions, it’s a method of giving the Cargill family and their corporate executives (a family with 21 billionaires) billions of dollars, make no mistake. This is a redistribution of wealth from middle class taxpayers to the billionaire oligarchy.
