I’ve got a few pictures of this car that were taken when they got the car back to RCR but I’m not allowed to share them. The one picture shows the roof crushed down maybe 6 inches from the dash, that’s why they crested the ‘Earnhardt Bar’. That car was so badly wrecked they.

News has come out this morning about the passing of Humpy Wheeler. Another important cog in NASCAR history is gone. Humpy, thank you for your help with Dale during his early years and most importantly thank you for the show!! Godspeed.

Nothing directly to do with this picture but seeing Mark’s paint scheme reminded me of something. Do you remember that time @markmartin rolled his car during the 1989 Banquet 300 at Sonoma Raceway, a road course. Despite the incident, he managed to finish the race, albeit five.

If this is 1987, then it has to be during the 125 because I’m pretty sure they changed the Chevy logo on the front of the car to the red outlined one for the 500 and the rest of the season.

@ArchivesDe My signed Dale Sr poster from a visit to the Oshawa (🇨🇦) GM plant in Nov of 2000 (3 months before his passing). My Dad worked there, & i begged my Mom to skip school & go to work with him that day but didnt win that one. Very special nonetheless!

@ArchivesDe Would have to be my @DaleJr 2001 Bud side as it was my first piece of sheetmetal. Next would have to be this signed Dale Earnhardt 1986 Wrangler decklid from the 2nd Pocono race that year. Couldn’t see myself parting with either of these pieces.

This story says so much about the people involved and about the impact Dale had on his fans!! . By far one of the best stories I’ve heard about ‘souvenir collecting’.
@ArchivesDe Silver #3 belt buckle. On a class trip in Colorado a couple weeks after the 01 Daytona 500 and a guy in my class, who I never got along with, walked up and handed it to me knowing how upset I still was. A thoughtful moment from the last person I expected was why I cherish it.

Great story!!.
@ArchivesDe This is absolutely one of those pieces. Got it when I was 6-7 years old and was the ring bearer in the wedding of a family friend/local late model driver. Hung on my childhood bedroom wall and has gone with me through every move. Got @DaleJr to sign it in Cordele this year.
