Morning movies at the cinema are a kind of ritual that sets the tone for the day. The actors are like priests performing a service, so it's good when you respond to them. Miriam Hopkins is one of the best for me.

Carole posing twice. This photo comes from one of my ancient books, long before internet. It's rather blurry, but hey, why not?

Tyrone Power - one of my favorite people ever. A gifted, underrated actor, a gentleman, a wit, an everlasting beauty, a man gone too soon. He was born today.

My favorite 100 directors. Randomly. 65 - Henry King. He rescued so many Fox productions from mediocrity and, given good scripts, made such great films. Here he is standing (eyeglasses on) next to Tyrone Power.

Basil Rathbone was around 38 years old in MGM's 1930 THE BISHOP MURDER CASE as Philo Vance amateur sleuth. Know the young man below? That's Carroll Nye around 29 (aka Scarlett's 2nd husband in GWTW). Roland Young (42) is also on hand. Watch it here: https://t.co/ciIlh6DCRG

#classichollywood,#hillarybrooke What a character... With her ice cold blond good looks & brittle British speaking voice she could be the epitome of the femme fatale. But she also excelled in comedy. And she wasn't a Brit at all. She was a Queens NY gal of Swedish descent.

Liza Minnelli turns 80 years old today. Happy birthday to the ultimate trouper. I hope she spends it basking in the glow of how much she is loved. 📷 Terry O'Neill, 1974

#classichollywood Mia Farrow's dad John Farrow directed this taut yet fun thriller and Mia's mom Maureen O'Sullivan co-starred! SAY! What's up with that! Have always love the cinematography too by 7 time Oscar nominated John Seitz! Watch it here: https://t.co/mJV62ZKk4y
