Here he is, Lord Windgrace as he appears in lost Caverns of Ixalan! I was able to use my bodybuilding coach as reference, he really was that beefy.

Adults depicting adults doing adult things isn’t bad, people can separate fantasy from reality. You can draw sexy nuns. I know they’re not real and I can comprehend that!
Hey, don't start witch hunts when you just don't understand how a piece is made/aren't familiar with an artists style or their artistic process. This piece is not A/I.
Absolute zero? Try absolute UNIT. The snowy owlbear was the first ever thing I worked on for WotC, so they're quite dear to me. The females have the same banding as female snowy owls! The babies are fat and very cute.

People also sexualise priests! Crazy! A lot of people handle their own religious trauma by exploring their sexuality through adult content about “forbidden” (church etc) things!

I started working for Wizards of the Coast in about June/July of 2019! Lots of my work hasn't been released yet, but the time I spent working on concept art for Rime of the Frostmaiden was So much fun! Snowy owlbear are very dear to me🥺
Hello

- I'm April Prime, and I largely do concept art for Wizards of the Coast for D&D, but I also do illustrations for the books, as well as MtG art! Though none of my cards are out yet :' )
I got my contributor's copy of Candlekeep Mysteries today and realised this lad was in it!!! I didn't even realise. Wereraven, member of the Scarlet Sash! Due to the illustrations having to fit with text, we had to keep his wings small.

- I'm April Prime (yes, real last name), I do art largely for DnD and now also MtG! I designed the snowy owlbear for the latest DnD adventure, "Rime of the Frostmaiden" as well as a collection of other critters, both friendly and not-so.
I'm April Prime, I live in Vancouver, though I come from a rural town in Northern Australia called Humpty Doo! My entire life is dedicated to D&D, fantasy, and creature art. I have a penchant for animals in wizard hats, bright colours, and painting books and paper

The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is out! While I was busy with *other* projects and had little time for any art, I did get to design Dirlagraun and her baby Star! I also did a little illustration of her (which you can see on DnD Beyond)

Lichen Lich and Grippli Warrior from Candlekeep mysteries! Had a lot of fun doing the fungus dress. I feel like I've improved a lot since these pieces, it's kinda fun to get to look back on stuff erven a few months old.

- I'm April Prime, a concept artist and fledgling illustrator from an itty bitty town called Humpty Doo in Northern Australia, though I now live in Vancouver! I love D&D, general fantasy, creature design, and dogs in wizard hats.
I did these two kitties as part of a Cats and Catacombs adventure that was written from Dragon+ Magazine,
-"The Lost Pyramid of Hissar"-
Noofus and Professor Whiskerwind, with their chipmunk helpers.
Happy year of the Tiger! DMs, throw some flavour on your displacer beasts this year and celebrate those stripes.
Tigers are my favourite animal, and displacers are my favourite monster, so it just Makes Sense. This coat is based off a Sumatran tiger.
I'm not as experienced as others, but I did get hired by WotC so I did something right! If any black artists would like help with a folio review (concept art or illustration), I'd be happy to help, especially if you're interested in creature design

- I'm April Prime! Yes it's my real last name. Currently in LA, but about to move back to good ol' Humpty Doo, Australia, until my Canadian residency is processed 🍁🦘
They're gonna EAT you! Wrathful Raptors for MtG's Ixalan, I LOVE these little blighters so much. I was painting these macaraptors right up to about 3 days before I left to move to the United States

Here's kind of a breakdown on how I use junk sculpts in my concepts! I promise it's not as detailed or hard or time intensive at it looks. My paintovers of the faces are actually very minimal. Zbrush (and Blender) are HUGE assets to concept artists and illustrators alike.
Guess I can start to post some things! I also did the concept art for Oyaminartok, but I was super happy to have been asked to do her final illustration too.

BEST BOY - Tekeli-li, a vampiric gnoll. I was super zazzed that I was able to base him off a striped hyena. Wanted to avoid just regular human vampire spawn, so I was also very excited to have the kobold vampires approved!

I muted this because a lot of people who’ve been having ~discourse~ have been 15 to 19 year olds and I’m not arguing with kids fresh out the womb with little worldly experience. Peace out and tip your local NSFW artist

! I'm April Prime, and I do lots of art for Dungeons&Dragons and sometimes MtG! I mostly get asked to paints whimsical animals and anthropomorphic creatures.
I was going through some old Facebook stuff and found these little fellas! Had a stint for goofy floral dragons. Rosebush dragon, peony lung, and a hydragea. I still think they're kinda cute...
Doodling my D&D character's family - his dad, Oskaa Lichtenbraun, and his super judgmental stygian owl familiar, Glower
and his childhood best friend/crush, Dacassiar Serenun, and his sweet little stoat familiar, Melvil.
I love familiars that match their wizards 😭
I got to design a LOT of saddles for Outlaws of Thunder Junction, yeehaw. I tried very hard to make the Horse Girls™ (gender neutral) proud. And make artists mad when they have to do chrome horses.

Some spooky constructs, I was given the opportunity to breathe new life into the Magen! Their outfits were based off Titus Lunter's architectural concept art for the ancient Netherese city, since they were also 'constructed'. Also side boob because we all know wizards be that way
Working on my new DnD boy, Drench Limuli. He's a homebrew combo of circle of land/coast x moon druid (bc my DM is cool). He's a biggole California surfer boy firbolg, very chill, and just loves to talk to horseshoe crabs.
I found all my old Intellect Devourer designs, maybe from 2016?? I wanted them to be like weird lions. I dunno why I like them so much, I just really latched onto them as monsters. Final image is from 2019, my most current design. Hands fow feets

When ur DM lets you have a masquerade ball, as a treat. L to R - dwarf rogue: white dragon, human bard: superb lyrebird, high elf wizard: emperor penguin, and half-orc paladin: lace monitor! Can't wait to get stabbed literally and emotionally.
in his search, the heavy tome opened with a THUD and whispered Cornelius' name in a familiar voice. Endowed with the power of speech and the gift of magic, Cornelius was able to open his Master's door and raise the alarm. He now quests to find out why the Bad Men hurt his friend.
Had a nightmare the other night, this guy was in it. I was stuck on an oil rig with it, bleck. Maybe the oil workers woke it up from the depths of the ocean by accident...they make for a good deep wraith or an eldritch wraith!

Student concept artists I will teach you a TRICK - If you can't think of visual language/symbols, do the 'superman' - take the first letter of the nation, world etc. a design comes from, and design it based off that. These are boss wizards from Tarth (spot the Ts!)

I got to do a soft redesign of the lizardfolk from D&D for this one, I based them a bit more heavily off a green iguana. The trickiest part of this for me was all the tangled roots 🥲
Lost my job today, the games industry is so rough. If anyone needs a full time concept artist in the US let me know! I can do all your monster and character needs.

It’s insane, I sound like an old man yelling at cloud but I really do think the prevalence of anti-sex culture on platforms like TikTok is getting to young spongey brains.
Framed Nightmares are a pair of demons in a symbiotic relationship. The smaller portal demon clings to walls of old castles and manors, and when an unlucky adventurer walks by, an enormous abyssal eel shoots out of the frame devouring them. The frame then eats any leftover gore.

Concepts from Frostmaiden! All three chwinga types ended up making it into the story :D The straw ones are inspired by namahage from northern Japan. Auril's snowy roc (I got the sizes kinda wrong lol) is based off a Steller's sea eagle and a snowy owl ❄️
I found the concepts I did for the reindeer in Rime of the Frostmaiden! I'm very glad the light up antler were used, its based off real herders who paint their antlers so they won't get hit by cars. The antler shape is loosely inspired by a crescent moon (for a fairytale vibe)
