What a bounce… 🏴🕺🏽
I don't care for the conclusions here, but what always astonishes me is people speaking about Celtic & Rangers in the EPL as if they'd have an SPFL budget & team. They then flip it to talk about a Fulham in the SPFL, as if they'd have an EPL budget and team. The logic is flawed.
👎 “
#CelticFC
and
#RangersFC
would struggle to stay in the PL.”
💷 “If they got in the PL & stayed up, they’d be top 6 with investment.”
😳 “I do think Fulham would go & win the Scottish Premiership!”
Jamie O’Hara still doesn’t rate the standard in the Scottish Premiership 🏴
Celtic have won 113 major trophies in their 134-year history - and 35 of them have been won in the last 22 years. That's 31%.
It's their 16th league title in that time period.

A very emotional Ronny Deila after winning the
#MLSCup
for New York City FC.
He’s now won 4 titles, in 3 countries, across 2 continents - that’s a remarkable achievement and an impressive CV he’s got. 👏🏾

I’ll hold my hands up - I thought this season was a write-off for Celtic with too much change on and off the field. But credit to Ange Postecoglou, he’s come in & is building something special. It is very much game on this season. Hope everyone enjoys their night. That was huge!
A Quadruple Treble. 12 major trophies in a row - a world record. Celtic may not be going through the best of spells, but we’ll never see this again in our lives. Today is all about making history again - redefining success. Soak it up, drink it in and hope it can turn the season.
UPDATE: Jota has tonight agreed a four-year contract with Celtic.
Celtic and Benfica agreed a final deal of £6.3m, with a 30% sell-on clause, last month.
The Hoops have been patiently waiting for Jota to come back from his holidays to finalise personal terms.
Celtic are closing in on a permanent transfer to sign Portuguese winger Jota - with a deal expected to be completed this week.
The 23-year-old has told Benfica he wishes to remain at the Scottish champions.
The sad reality of this all, is that a large proportion of England will probably continue to vote them into power and everyone else will be stuck with it. That’s why they laugh - they feel they can get away with anything.
Callum Davidson has just won TWO major trophies for St Johnstone in the same season, in his first year as a manager. Incredible achievement. The first time a club has done this outside of Celtic & Rangers for 30+ years. He won’t care but he’s been robbed of the MOTY award!
“Where do they get these guys from?” 👀
Ange Postecoglou is about to win his 6th league title as a manager - in 3 countries, on 3 continents.
A Double with Celtic in a year of transition. 👏🏾
It’s Wednesday and there’s still been no Celtic apology - or even any acknowledgment of wrongdoing. Their supporters bought season tickets, knowing there’s a chance they won’t see a game in this campaign - essentially a donation of around £25m. They deserve so much better.
Friday - Ange Postecoglou on possible complacency in his squad: “If any of that sort of thinking creeps in with anybody, they’ll get left behind. It’ll stand out in this environment.”
Saturday - Celtic 7-0 St Johnstone
Just become a da - suddenly everything else in life seems irrelevant. Mum and baby doing well. Will be off this for a few weeks. Was nice to hear they’ve named a party in Scotland after my daughter, though! 😉.

Fair enough if Celtic want to distance themselves from the banners. But the line “political messages and banners are not welcome at Celtic Park” just seems hypocritical when they play Let The People Sing, This Land Is Your Land, Grace & Bella Ciao etc over the PA system. 🤷🏾♂️

I actually thought now would’ve been a good time to just hold their hands up, apologise again and ask to move on. But to come out all-guns-blazing and attack everyone who criticised them, shows the complete lack of self-awareness at the club just now. Really sad to see.
“We were made aware of sectarian singing by a group of people in the Jamaica Street area of Glasgow on Sunday. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
Language is important
@policescotland
. If this was against any other nationality you’d be calling it “racist”. Do better.
I went to a Catholic primary school and it was very multicultural & multi-faith too - more so than my non-denominational secondary school. This kind of statement dilutes the real deep-rooted issues. There’s Catholic schools all over the world… why is it an issue in Scotland? 🤷🏾♂️
Whether it’s Shane Duffy, Neil Lennon or James McClean, anti-Irish racism is still a problem in the UK - & perhaps Scotland’s biggest racism issue. They’re the high-profile ones, but this happens across society. It’s become normalised. Keep calling it out, or the cycle continues.
Me in July: “Ralston is not good enough for Celtic.”
Me in Aug: “Juranovic coming in will be the end of Ralston at Celtic.”
Keep proving me wrong, Anthony! 👏🏾

Fenerbahce players wore T-shirts today to show solidarity with Palestine.
Liverpool forward Mo Salah has also called on world leaders, including Boris Johnson, to "do everything in their power" to end the ongoing violence.
I understand removing the flags if Celtic felt they’d be punished, but not with the language used. What part of solidarity for a humanitarian cause is “unacceptable”? If this truly is the stance, the Green Brigade response is spot on - it does stray from the values of the club.
Neil Lennon left in February - nearly half a year ago. As per usual, Celtic have gone into the
#UCL
qualifiers completely underprepared. And they’re now heading into the domestic season underprepared too. The rebuild will take time, but so many months have already been wasted.
Perhaps one of the best renditions of Flower of Scotland ever…
It’s been crying out for a lone piper, then just the fans for the second verse.
Goosebumps! 🥺🏴

Scott Brown led Celtic to an historic Quadruple Treble and a second 9-in-a-row - bossing Scottish football for a decade.
He leaves as a legend, with huge boots to fill.
Celtic Park will always be special to us fans. But a full Celtic Park rocking is one of the most incredible sights in football. Tonight, that’ll be back. I’m feeling the buzz and I can’t even go! No matter the result, it’ll be a memorable day. If you’re there - soak it up & enjoy
UPDATE: Brendan Rodgers has agreed terms on a long-term deal to return to Celtic as manager.
It's understood paperwork is being finalised and an announcement is expected this week.
UPDATE: Celtic’s talks with Brendan Rodgers reaching an advanced stage.
Understand he’s been offered a better deal than his previous contract.
Celtic willing to back him with transfer budgets they believe will help club compete in UCL, as well as continue domestic dominance.
Rangers: “Police intelligence indicated that some fans would congregate in groups given the fact that this is not only a historic achievement but due to the behaviour from the other half of the Old Firm... in December.”
Celtic: “We’re not half of anything. Not our problem.”
The league is all, but mathematically, over and the Scottish Cup is suspended, with the potential of it being finished next season again. The Celtic clearout might as well begin now.
Rangers have indefinitely banned the fans who made racist chants and gestures about Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi.
The supporters’ club, which they were members of and travelled with, have also been banned from receiving tickets for future games.
Celtic need to engage with the fans at the very least. There’s so much positivity around the club at the moment. The connection between the fans & players/manager is growing every week. But there still appears to be a disconnect from the top. It doesn’t have to be this way.
A year today since Copenhagen - the last Euro away trip & last Celtic game for me. A huge part of my life taken away for a whole year. What I would give to be back following Celtic & Scotland round the world. Here’s hoping we can find a way of safely returning this year. 🤞🏾

Been told by one source that there’s a lot of regret at Benfica for allowing an option-to-buy clause, for so cheap, on Jota’s loan last season. Another buying club would’ve had to pay a lot more this summer. That’s why they’ve got a 30% sell-on in the deal - they wanted more.

Celtic are in the market for a goalkeeper this summer.
It’s understood one target being monitored closely is Croatia & Dinamo Zagreb No1 Dominik Livakovic, who has a year left on his contract.
Fiorentina’s interest has cooled recently. Villarreal & Fenerbahce are also keen.
“It’s a special football club. If you have a bucket list as a manager of football clubs you want to manage, that’s probably one of them. The supporters aren’t really supporters, the club is an extension of them - it's a family”
Ange Postecoglou on Celtic at his 1st Spurs presser
Celtic going to Dubai for a training camp in these times doesn’t sit well with me at all. It may be within the rules for both governments/authorities, but it’s certainly not in the spirit of the rules.
Police Scotland confirmed there were no serious incidents or disorder as Celtic fans celebrated their title win in Glasgow Cross yesterday.
However, six arrests were made over the course of the evening for acts of public disorder and assault.
Picturing a scenario already where Andre Villas-Boas becomes the Celtic manager in the summer... then the Marseille board decide to send Olivier Ntcham back.
Celtic are expected to offer midfielder Matt O’Riley improved terms & an extension on his contract.
The 22yo was the subject of a £10m bid from Leeds United.
Celtic rejected it & now hope to tie him up on a new deal during this international break.
I’m just wondering how all my Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Protestant (etc) classmates got in, if it was “Catholic-only”… but I guess Ron seems to know best about my upbringing. It’ll blow his mind when he finds out I was baptised in a Protestant church 🤭
Early days, but Celtic were a joy to watch - first time in a while. You can see what Ange Postecoglou is trying to implement - it’s potentially exciting. But there’s still a lot to do with recruitment and strengthening the squad. He needs to be backed to find the missing pieces.
The one heartening thing to come from all of this is that it’s finally being called out for what it is... in Scotland. For too long this has gone on. It’s deep-rooted & ingrained in society. It will take time for the culture to change, but this seems like an awakening for many.
Just when I thought I was over the worst of it, I was taken to hospital on Mon. They’ve found a large blood clot has formed in my lung (6 months to treat), I’ve got pneumonia and also Hepatitis A in my liver - all from

. The diagnosis is definitely worse than how I feel.
Finally out of a 13-day Covid isolation after Scotland’s game at Wembley. It’s been a brutal experience, with some scary moments, but thankfully I’m on the road to recovery now. Hugging my wee girl again was the most amazing feeling.
Celtic are in talks with Leicester City to sign centre-back Filip Benkovic.
He's not part of Leicester's short-term plans. They'll listen to loan offers and would even sell for the right price.
Celtic would prefer a loan deal, with an option to buy.
Discussions ongoing.

is devastated to hear of the passing of Lisbon Lion, Bertie Auld and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.
Bertie was a legend of the club and he was adored by the entire Celtic Family.
Rest in Peace Bertie, You’ll Never Walk Alone
The Green Brigade are calling on Celtic fans to respond to UEFA’s latest fine (for the anti-monarchy banner), by donating to their food drive appeal to help impoverished communities in Scotland.
Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has played his last game of the season today. He will now be treated for his knee injury.
He was given the official Player of the Match award after Celtic's Scottish Cup semi-final win over Rangers at Hampden.
If you support the booing of footballers taking a knee and continue to justify it with “BLM/Marxist/politics in football” patter, you are deliberately choosing to ignore the reason why the players are doing it. Take a look in the mirror & ask yourself why you might be doing that.
Celtic have agreed terms with Melbourne City forward Marco Tilio.
It's understood paperwork is being finalised and the Hoops hope to complete the transfer this week.
The Australia international, 21, can play on both wings and also as a centre forward.
#CelticFC
Some Celtic fans disrespecting the minute’s silence (which is very different to the poppy debate btw) and some Dundee fans booing the players taking a knee. A very embarrassing start to this game.
Massively lucked out for a ticket in unfortunate circumstances, due to a pal testing positive last minute. But so grateful to be back for special days like this. Hopefully the start of many under Ange. What a start to his Celtic career!🍀🏆

UPDATE: Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has also confirmed that a member of his backroom staff was struck by a bottle at Ibrox today.
The individual is thankfully okay.
Rangers are investigating and trying to identify the individuals who were seen in a video, circulating online, appearing to chant racist abuse about Celtic’s new forward Kyogo Furuhashi.
Amazing to think around this time last year Tom Rogic was very close to moving to Qatar. He’s now proving he’s still a quality player and has so much more to give to Celtic.
Interesting comments from RB Salzburg head coach Jesse Marsch on the BBC re being linked with Celtic.
That’s as much of a ‘come and get me’ plea as you’re going to get from a manager already in a good job.
Greg Taylor doing exactly what you want from a player who’s had multi-million-pound competition come in, in his position - excellent performance. It’s his to lose.
Stephen Welsh also decent.
Solid start from Celtic.

Celtic have now confirmed all 3 of their J-League targets will sign in Jan.
Daizen Maeda joins on loan, with an obligation to buy for £1.6m in the summer.
Yosuke Ideguchi arrives on a four-and-half-year deal for £835,000.
And Reo Hatate will also sign for the same length.
Listening to
@BBCSportsound
podcast on the way home tonight. Can’t believe (or maybe I can) Willie Miller has said “far too many foreign players” is one of the reasons for Aberdeen’s downfall. This lazy argument is exhausting and comes from a pure dinosaur mentality. Do better.
