At last! Holding the first copies of my new book, The Imagined Juror. It shows that fed prosecutors need jurors to do their jobs, and so even with few trials, they spend a lot of time, well, inventing and thinking with them–with interesting implications. https://t.co/eUybPXuHBe

I somehow missed this Medium article by @EvaNatiello about my grandfather, Sidney Offit-- now 95, and still a favorite teacher and cheerleader 🙌

This story will fly under the radar. It shouldn't. Houston tried to prosecute a woman for helping the homeless. And the state couldn't even impanel a jury, because the bulk of potential jurors saw the case for the insanity that it is. This is why jury trials are essential:

Fantastic article by @robertiafolla via @bloomberglaw suggesting a crack in a years long trend: more courts approve remote work as an accommodation. With insights from @nicolebporter @ArleneKanter @weparmet @dandrashu Bob Dinerstein & myself. #CripTheVote

Federal judges are somewhat less likely to side with employers that deny requests for telework as a disability accommodation after the Covid-19 pandemic sparked a remote work revolution.

A very troubling report. And I’m having a hard time understanding what the affirmative argument would be for why grand jurors can’t speak with each other.
A state court–issued handbook explains that the grand jury should “discuss with each other the evidence and the legal instructions” before voting on felony indictments. But a foreman alleged that court officers in Queens had instructed them otherwise. https://t.co/CA1aiXbCZc
