The new website is live and issue 0 of the Field Notes has been published. School starts in a week. First semester is all theory but I'll be doing practical application work on my own.

Does anyone do, or know someone else who does, personal experiments (n=1 experiments) I can follow along with?. I recently learned about this and I'm fascinated by it. I'd love to see some of your favorite examples!.

Metacognition is important for creativity. But beware the centipede effect. When the toad asks the centipede which leg moves first, she falls over, unable to walk. Your inner critic is the toad who kills your weird, but promising ideas before they can develop.

I joined @neuranne's community and bought her book, Tiny Experiments, yesterday. I figure if I'm going to do a thesis on metacognition and generative notemaking, go to an expert😁.

Talking with my advisor about including a section in the course I'm creating on using AI responsibly. My take: Students are going to use AI no matter what the professor or university says or wants. Teaching them to use it as a tool rather than a cheating machine is valuable.

Hey PKM community! I got side tracked from Grow Your Mind for a while. But I'm back with good news! I start a new masters program next month based on my mind garden framework. I'm ready to get the newsletter going again so I can build my capstone with the garage door open.

I recently got into grad school on the basis of my mind garden philosophy! . For my thesis, I'll be designing a curriculum for incoming freshmen to help them get the most out of their university experience. Time to get the Grow Your Mind newsletter back up and running.

You need to be able to determine:. - Which you need.- Which you have.- What you can and can't do with each.

Apply similar techniques to information to create knowledge. - Compare the information with similar past instances. - Determine what implications the information may have. - Relate the new information to existing knowledge. - Have conversations about the information with others.

Peter Drucker describes information as data endowed with relevance and purpose. - Provide the purpose for which the data was gathered. - Categorize the units of analysis or key components of the data. - Correct any errors in the data. - Provide a summary of the data.

Data is a set of factual values that have no meaning on their own. Think of data as the raw materials used to create information and knowledge.

As you grow your knowledge base you'll be working with a lot of data and information. Understanding the difference between data, information, and knowledge will make the process easier.
