I genuinely do not understand why people kick a man like this when he is down. The whole "oh well get a real job before you get married" thing just doesn't account for how fast life can change, how heavy it can get in a moment, etc. Pray for him. Donate if you have the means.
My fiancĆ©e and I are going through a hard season. I had to quit my job to care for my grandmother, and both of our living and work situations are uncertain. Weāre asking for prayers and support as we prepare for marriage in February. š Link for donation below:

This is utterly consistent with Roman Catholicism taken in all its magisterial decrees, and not just a few. It is consistent to think that critiquing Rome's system of merit is objectively worse than saying "Hitler was cool" or "I am team Hitler". It is worse to say "Rome
Of course I think this. I am neither a liberal nor an indifferentist. Explain how I, a Roman Catholic, could say anything otherwise? Gavin is unapologetically opposed to Roman Catholicism and has it as one of his goals to cause Roman Catholics to leave the Church.

The quotations of the fathers that show Rome to have held pre-eminence in the early Church do *nothing* to establish that she holds it now. As Bucer points out in "Instruction in Christian Love", the see of Rome and her bishops would have maintained her splendor if she had

Roman Catholics who rally against the CDF have no real basis to exclude women from the priesthood. Here, irony of ironies, I'll gladly defend the CDF over many vocal trads. It was a good move on their part (I feel like I have a great deal more respect for the post V2 Roman Church

The sad fact is that this is the state of most popular RC apologists. The vast majority of my goodwill has dried up towards them. If they are called out for simply misrepresenting their opposition, they'll punt to a pretended "oh but Prots are so divided on EvRyThInG" and ignore
@SipsWithSerra Do you not see the irony in that gif? Why is it a repeated issue with RCs that they cant see the very things they accuse others of when they do them? Very telling. Sure, I could repeat the falsehood you did when you were a Lutheran. But that would be disingenuous of me to

That's like saying "there's too much variety in Rome I have no idea what yall believe. I mean the whole German Bishops conference bless same sex marriage with impunity, and Strickland got removed. How can I know your super specific super duper narrow interpretation of vague
@AngAesthetics When did I say that? I'm just pointing out that there is too much variety even within denominations to expect us to adequately nuance everything we say about Protestantism. I typically make statements like 'many protestants believe...' and then I get comments from people saying

This sort of heel digging in misrepresentation is quite common. I dunno @logos_asarkos , this is the first time Im learning yall wanted salvation without holiness!
@WmWeedon @CossmanTodd @AngAesthetics If that were true then you're junking "simul justus et peccator" completely and denying the Lutheran tradition from the get go. Luther's WHOLE shtick was that he wanted salvation without actually being holy. Because being holy is too hard or something.

Im sick and tired of Roman Catholics gaslighting Protestants on this site, and then calling us "needlessly combative" when we push back. In the video, Fr. Mike literally says Protestants believe Christ's righteousness covers us but doesnt change us--that it is imputed but not
@matthewpao1 @AngAesthetics @sincead33 @BreeSolstad @6 He is just strawmanning Catholics in this. Fr. Mike never said Protestants dont' believe in an infusion. He was speaking to justfication/salvation, and that Protestants deny infusion is a cause of their justification. Like he can disagree, but the call of calumny was unwarranted!

Inspired by @AngAesthetics' recent video on 7 arguments against Catholicism, specifically argument 4, I'm working on a dilemma. Sean Luke says it's psychologically impossible to judge invincible ignorance. So, trying to make sense of Vatican II's claim some outside the church are

Great post. In the holy Eucharist, heaven touches Earth. We join in the great symphony of saints who praise our God, and our voices are offered up with theirs. The communion of saints means that God is the God of the living, with whom the spirits of the saints departed live and
Did you know that a day is coming when you and I will stand side-by-side in the communion of the saints as that mystical Body of Christ and together we will gaze at the beauty of our Lord? Today is All Saintsā Day. Why does it matter? We believe in the church and that church is

One reason Beauty stirs longing is because beauty is the truest revelation of reality. In the beautiful, we see the radiance of being shining before our eyes. The beauty of a mountain doesn't take us away from the mountain; it shows us the true depths of the mountain as it really

Anglo-Romanism that says Rome got everything right but the papacy is wildly, wildly implausible. The most consistent Anglo-Romanists are the ones that just become Roman Catholic. Anglicanism is a Reformed Catholic tradition--which puts it squarely on the side of the Reformation.

Two offices is not the āNT authorsā positionā. If you were to model a church today after the NT, you would have deacons, bishops (same as presbyters in the NT), and a third office held by one man over these multiple presbyter-bishops (e.g. Timothy, Titus, Apolo, Mark, James,
@gavinortlundās recent video on the papacy ( https://t.co/xljj15sVrd) is excellent and you should go watch it. It is well articulated, researched, accurate, and most of all true. Gavinās work on Roman Catholicism in general is very well done. Gavinās response here to

I just want to note the inconsistency of Roman Catholics who say "oh this is so lowbrow" or "oh so disappointing" and then turn around and say if a Prot is saved it is only in spite of and nor because of their teaching/most Prots are going to hell bc invincible ignorance is
Laziest and most disappointing nonsense Iāve seen in a while, Wes is really lowbrow. This is a Baptist polemic based in trying to stem the tide of people looking into apostolic churches, itās not a response to our apologia.
