In all seriousness, it should have happened shortly after Turnbull became Prime Minister.

Confirmation the AFL should have just gone back to four on the bench: clubs are effectively telling the league that five is too many.
Clubs are weighing up using the new fifth player on the interchange as a 'pseudo substitute' - holding the player out of games until later - as they prepare for the AFL's suite of new rules ⤵️

How much has Test batting changed? MCG Boxing Day 1981 - a truly horrid and spiteful pitch AUS had Lillee, Lawson, Alderman WI had Holding, Roberts, Garner, Croft K Hughes a brilliant 100 Match lasted 1724 balls - 782 runs This Test went for 852 balls - 572 runs 🏏 #Ashes

Genuinely don't care who wins this. It's meaningless. If England win, great, they've broken a drought but lost the series. If Australia win, meh, it's a dead rubber. Would be different if it felt like a hard fought match. But whoever wins, Test cricket is the loser here.

In 1988, Australia played the West Indies in a Test on the MCG, on a pitch described as “corrugated iron”. The Windies had Marshall, Ambrose, Walsh and Patterson as a pace attack. The Aussies batted 94 overs and 57 overs. You know, Test Cricket.

If Inglis isn't good enough to bat higher in the order than Carey, he does not deserve to be selected in the team as a batter. But Usman is about to settle that issue for a little while anyway. #ashes

Either Subject Matter Experts or Small and Medium Enterprises need to be awarded sole custody of the acronym SME. We did this with LOL already. We have the capability. One or the other, people.

I think everyone thought the way T20 would kill test cricket was people would go to T20 instead. What happened is test cricket became T20 cricket instead.

I don’t say this because the Aussies are crumbling because I was thinking this after the England innings, but short test matches with no batter showing any ability to slowly bat time is inferior test cricket. There was a time when batters dug in. We need more that now.

When the final eight was introduced, there were 15 teams. Now there are 18, and there will be 20 soon enough. This is not that big a deal. And the new games are finals.
