SERVICE TO CANADA RESUMES IN SEPTEMBER:
WSDOT & ODOT are pleased to share that train service to all cities north of Seattle including Vancouver, BC, now resumes in September 2022. Earlier plans called for a December return to Canada, but Amtrak was able to advance the schedule.

Electric bus makes its first daily roundtrip b/t Seattle-B'ham. It's Amtrak's first EV bus & replaces a diesel bus. Beyond a.m. and p.m. train service, the bus adds another round trip. The bus can make the nearly 200-mile R/T on one single charge. Details:

Talgo train rotation can change at any moment but until 12/11, Trains 500 and 505 are good bets. 12/11&beyond: Trains 505 and 508 will be one Talgo. The other Talgo will alternate b/t 503/518 one day and then 517/506 the next day. So 505 and 508 are your best bets. No guarantee.

Woo hoo! The potential freight railroad strike has been averted. Amtrak Cascades trains between Seattle and Eugene will run normally today. The long-distance trains, Coast Starlight & Empire Builder, will resume tomorrow. All affected customers are being notified.

The good news is BNSF got access to stabilize the hillside north of Vancouver, WA. The bad news is that from Feb. 2 to Mar. 17, Trains 500, 502, 503, 504, 505, 517, and 518 will experience delays up to 30 minutes on Track 1 between Vancouver, WA and Kelso, WA.

Both morning trains leave 40 minutes later-beauty sleep win:
NB is now SEA 8:30 AM – VAC 12:30 AM
SB is now VAC 7:15 AM – SEA 11:40 AM – PDX 3:35 PM
Both Evening trains are much more civilized:
SB is now VAC 4:45 PM – SEA 9:10 p.m.
NB is now PDX 2:10 PM – SEA 5:37 PM – VAC 10 PM

We're working toward pandemic service recovery so we can be back to 12 trains per day between Seattle and Portland and four trains per day to BC. Running times will be similar to now.

Additional weight restrictions on the SR 165 Carbon River/Fairfax Bridge in east Pierce County limit vehicles to 16,000 lbs. Your mid-size SUV will likely be ok to cross, but better check the weight of the pickup or RV you're driving/pulling before you go.

That looks like an Amtrak locomotive so it was not Amtrak Cascades. You'll know the Amtrak Cascades trains b/c they are all pulled (or pushed) by the WSDOT locomotives. They have the Amtrak Cascades logo and they say WSDOT on the front with the big Flying T logo on the side.

All trains between Seattle and Portland are disrupted due to a landslide across the tracks in Tacoma. Alternative bus service will be provided. Effective through 9 am on Sunday, Dec 22.

Oh, Mon Cheri'! We were able to get a couple changes on the early end. This page has the current and the upcoming schedules posted. The first northbound train out of SEA and the first southbound train out of VAC leave both 40 minutes later.
