This week in 1775, Henry Knox set out from Boston on a daring mission to Ft. Ticonderoga. Over snow and rugged terrain, he and his men miraculously hauled 59 pieces of artillery back to Washington’s army and helped force the British evacuation of Boston in March 1776.

American troops captured Montreal #OTD 250 years ago, Nov 13, 1775, after a 7-week siege of Fort St. Jean near the city. The American invasion of British-ruled Canada aimed to protect the colonies’ northern border and to encourage Canadians to join the rebellion. #RevWar250

#OTD 250 years ago, Virginia’s royal governor Lord Dunmore “declare[d] all indented servants, Negroes, or others (appertaining to rebels) free, that are able and willing to bear arms”. This may have inspired over 80,000 enslaved people during the #RevWar to flee to the British

It’s cold & flu season. In the #RevWar soldiers battled more than the common cold. They were susceptible to deadly diseases. In response, Dr. Benjamin Rush wrote a pamphlet to highlight the importance of diet, dress, and camp hygiene for the army. https://t.co/gRzumt35UJ
