Have been privileged to work alongside academic MDs and PhDs. You can't replace the results of formation through years of research intensive effort. And it's reflected by the non-academic MDs I have tell me I'm ignorant of evidence based medicine cause I'm not a clinician.
There is a fundamental misunderstanding in the general public of what a MD is. Very few of us are scientists, readers, and thinkers.
