PREACH @arghavan_salles! Most Gynecologic surgeons are women, so we’re paid less at baseline. Then, we’re paid less per procedure because our PATIENTS are women. And that’s how the surgeons that women are most likely to get surgery from are the lowest paid surgeons. 🤬

As a rising 4th year applying into urology on rotation, I had the privilege of speaking to the department @MayoUrology on any topic. I chose financial toxicity for female patients with urinary incontinence. Some key points from the talk: /1

Gynecologic Surgeons are HIGHLY disadvantaged. —@beridgeway Gynecologic surgery is set up for financial failure within the power structure of hospitals. This makes it incredibly difficult to prioritize women’s health when healthcare is failing. #SGS2023

If we elect two more Democratic senators and keep control of the House, here is my promise to the American people: The first bill I will send to Congress will be to codify Roe v. Wade. When passed, I will sign it in January—50 years after Roe was decided the law of the land.

Medical organizations with PACs need to stop making statements that are incongruent with the political candidates that they support! Do they really support the right to an abortion, gun safety, medicaid expansion, public health funding, etc? Please follow the $$$ below.

May 19: patient had back surgery May 24: discharged May 31: seen by surgeon in clinic for postop pain June 1: Patient buys AR-15, comes to hospital to shoot surgeon. Kills 4 people. As a surgeon, this is terrifying. Surgeon saw him postop within 2weeks to address pain concerns.
