Hi @pottscans , I was very excited to discover your plastic-free sauces in my local @LidlGB and cycled home to make my tea. Unfortunately, when I opened the can it exploded in my face. Thankfully my glasses saved my eyes but the kitchen ceiling will need a repaint! Known issue?

I've finally moved properly to the other place 🦋 where you can find me and the bots can't (for now). It's much nicer over there. I'll leave you with a bit of @matthalsalljazz to say goodbye. It was nice while it lasted, Twitter.

This week @the_DARe_Hub hosted a workshop co-organised with @JonahCycles and @SustransNorth, exploring the role of data in planning and managing active travel networks in the North East. Great to have @NorthEast_CA and @activetraveleng in the room too!.

Just when I was thinking "please, no more Christmas songs", @cerysmatthews comes along to point me to all of all the good stuff. 'O Helga Natt' by Gjermund Larsen Trio was a particular joy, and then there is of course this beauty from Nine Simone. Thanks!.

Time for @gateshead to be bold and look to the future, not the past. Seoul has removed urban flyovers like this, improving its air quality, increasing walking and public transport use, added more urban greenery. The flyover is a relic whose time has come.
globaldesigningcities.org
A167 Gateshead Highway flyover closed to all traffic after inspection by engineers showed a potential risk to safety if it remained open. The road beneath the flyover will also be closed but the Park Lane roundabout and Five Bridges roundabout remain open

Nice blog from @IPPR on assessing the success of the government's new Integrated Transport Strategy. Some ideas for @the_DARe_Hub as we develop our own framework for the decarbonisation and adaptation of the UK's transport infrastructure. Land-use transport integration is key!.
🚉 | NEW BLOG: The UK government is producing England’s first integrated national transport strategy. In this blog, we set out seven tests to judge if the strategy seizes the opportunity to create a fairer, greener and healthier transport system.

This arrived in the post today. Little did I know when I started at @UniofNewcastle as a Research Assistant in 2004 (working on the Environment Agency Weather Generator- that I would still be here 20 years later as a Senior Lecturer! How time flies.

Sometimes live music throws you a real curveball. @Maruja_Band at @thecluny tonight: an unexpected mix of Mogwai, Do Make Say Think, Enablers, UK Grime, Sweep the Leg Johnny, and a bit of John Coltrane. Well worth the chilly cycle ride and the ringing ears.

Lovely to be invited on the Older Voices radio show to discuss transport this week, and to choose a transport-related song to play. Enjoyed talking to Sandy Irvine from @NewcastleElders and making the case for public transport. You can listen here:.

It's a strange experience being at #UrbanTransitions2024 on a day like today. Talking about the impacts of 3 degrees of global warming on cities, health benefits of active travel, greenspace, and equity, and all the while trying to ignore events over the water. Group therapy!.
