* The use of parental blame is widespread and systemic within public service disability provision. * Children and families suffer trauma and long-term harm as a result. * Children and families are denied the support they are entitled to.

@RightfulLives @RamseyjJane @Paulscriven @KeeleyMP @BaronessHollins @LizBarkerLords I've been trying to expose this happening in too many schools for years. This is one lid off one of many very large cans of worms. It's sickening, but this is the reality of many children's school days.

This is where it starts @RamseyjJane @Paulscriven @KeeleyMP @BaronessHollins @LizBarkerLords. This is not an isolated case by any means. And by the time our traumatised children end up in psychiatric hospitals, sometimes years later, the damage can never be undone. We need to

Following the BBC reporting of abusive seclusions + restraints within specialist provision, here are some people and organisations that challenge such practices: * https://t.co/mi4l4V5yIg * https://t.co/sGmlNJsaBL * https://t.co/95kcWK2tVi

@NoelTitheradge Seclusion+restraint practices systemic in 'specialist' provisions. Schools use barbaric force to deal with distress+overwhelm caused by the school not meeting child's needs. Parents who challenge this practice exposed to parent blame, labelled difficult or silenced.

"...there was no suitable space at the school for her son to decompress." And so he was excluded. How many children have to be blamed for situations that amount to a failure on part of the #Send system. Don't think I'll ever stop feeling angry about this. https://t.co/2wKPKKQESS

Excellent summary. Proud to have my survey report included in literature review. Deeply systemic problem ruining childhoods and preventing access to rightful provisions.

Being bullied because of your autistic presentation can shred your self confidence, self worth+identity. The words of my bullies rattle around my head still. It can make leaving the house hard. It can make speaking up hard. #ActuallyAutistic #autism #antibullyingweek2024
