It’s great that folks are discussing this.
As someone who has "invested" a lot (over 120 open source Solana repos and some of the most used/forked code in the ecosystem) it took me ~2 years for anyone to take anything I did seriously. If there were any semblance of open source culture here, that would not be the case.

Closed source, centralized sequencer L2s are literally just centralized exchanges with a different custody setup. Even if FTX was an L2, it still would have stolen everyone's money. If the code's not public, you're completely at the mercy of the operator.
