⚛️This work highlights how isotopic fractionation can help pinpoint urban NOx sources, even under challenging winter conditions. Our study builds on previous isotope research, pushing boundaries in atmospheric science. #Isotopes.

Our findings show that vehicles and heating oil were the primary NOx sources at ground level, with minimal contribution from nearby coal plants. These insights could shape future pollution control in #Arctic cities.

This study was part of the ALPACA 2022 field campaign—a project postponed due to COVID. The goal was to investigate atmospheric chemistry at the frontiers of our current knowledge in cold, dark environments in @Fairbanks_UAF .

None of this would’ve been possible without the dedication of our lead author @_sarahalbertin, who worked through extreme cold, managing equipment in Fairbanks as temperatures plunged to < -30°C. Her resilience and attention to detail is always a source of inspiration! 👏❄️.
