Seriously though @limebike please sort out these dumped scooters of yours on the Begshamra/Inverness bridge north of Stockholm that have been blocking the busy cycle/pedestrian way for several days. There are about 4 of them.

"Escape Velocity" 2024, Artist unknown. Installation piece of abandoned rental scooters and steel railings. The artist skilfully juxtaposes concepts of escape and imprisonment while confronting issues of abandonment. @limebike @Stockholmsstad

πŸ‚πŸ’©πŸ“ˆ. We are changing the climate of our planet at the speed of a coked-up Billionaire's kid in a Ferrari. Methane reached a record high of 1933.5 ppb! . That's already higher than the peak of the mid range climate scenario (SSP2-4.5)!

But a few days ago it was -18 C in the morning on the way to work. The scenery was beautiful. Why would you want to stare at your phone on a train, or queue for ages getting frustrated in a car? More people meed to winter cycle!

Another minor road section linking cycle lanes. Awful mess, followed by nice clear lane after about 2 km.

Another example. beautifully cleared cycle lane gives way to about 1 km of treacherous minor road before going back to clear cycle lane. Not clearing this stretch is seriously detrimental to the validity of the route.

Then there is the critical issue of not clearing minor roads that connect up cycle lanes. cycle lane to industrial estate and back to cycle lane. The loose packed semi compressed snow churned up by lorries is very problematic.

Major cycle routes out of Stockholm have been kept reasonably clear, but sometimes it takes a few days for the clearance to catch up. This was about 15 km outside, two days after snowfall. Without an electric motor, very difficult to traverse!

In Northern Stockholm, the main routes have been kept quite clear. But often things are let down at crossings and junctions. I fell off at this crossing, just a little way south of the first picture. The ruts melt and then refreeze like concrete.

In central Stockholm, most of the cycle lanes along the roads are covered in ice/snow and it has not been removed. Valhallvagen (a major cycling route) is looking much better than last year, some better snow clearance.

You can see the "cycle lane" has become a dumping ground for snow that is now compressed and turned to slippery ice. People on bikes now have to use the road. It's hard to get a feel for the scale of how thick the ice is.

@RedfernElec @RedfernElec got the pitch smart Crumb going too. Put the Pitch Crumb on the same input as the start switch. Seems to work ok on the same port. Now it sets off an alarm if the current temp goes above a set value.
