Happy Opening Day! At the @Nationals opener, a beer, Cracker Jacks, and a hot dog will run almost $30. The owners are worth $6 billion and DC taxpayers paid for the stadium. It doesn't have to be this way. Public subsidy should come with public benefit. My latest for @MSNBC:

Price controls have well-documented costs. But they also may be the only way to provide the short-term price relief voters want and need. In today's NYT, @nealemahoney and I make the case for pairing targeted price controls with supply-side reforms. 1/

“That’s why there is a case for temporary, targeted price controls that hold down costs, paired with supply-side reforms that encourage new production.” Must-read from @nealemahoney & @BharatRamamurti

Voters are demanding short-term price relief, and temporary price controls may be the only viable way to provide it

"Lina Khan thinks beers at Yankee Stadium are too expensive — and that she has the law on her side." @linamkhan is right. A game at Yankee Stadium for a family of four is second highest in the league at $355.66. A single hot dog at Citi Field runs $7. Street pricing for NYC.

Thanks to @ErinBurnett for having me to talk through our new @WeDemandJustice report:

Josh Orton: "Every one of Trump's judicial picks ducked the Jan 6 question. They said it's a 'political controversy.' We expect judges to be loyal to the Constitution — Trump demands they be loyal to him." (15 Senate Democrats still voted to confirm some of them.)

The people movers are fine. People just love to complain about airports to signal that they travel a lot.
Trump officials have a new target: the Dulles “people movers.” White House calls them “notorious,” citing accident this week. And a Trump nominee to Dulles board says he has a plan to kill the shuttles. https://t.co/veGh6LCKdt

In this episode, former Biden trade adviser @AlexSJacquez is so illuminating in explaining Trump's tariff fiasco, what's about to happen at the Supreme Court, and much more:
Trump just claimed his tariffs have pulled in $2 trillion. Then literally hours later, he inflated it to $3 trillion. With this absurdity, he undermined his case for tariffs, revealing that he's pulling numbers out of his ass. On the pod we dig into this: https://t.co/ErQC9yZQ6G

I joined @GregTSargent on The Daily Blast to break down Trump’s fuzzy tariff math, his disastrous Supreme Court oral arguments, and whether we’ll be getting $2,000 tariff rebate checks. Spoiler: I wouldn’t make any major purchases Listen here!

When it comes to how voters feel about the economy, Trump's numbers are now as bad as or worse than Joe Biden's across the board

The president's numbers on prices are where Biden's were during peak inflation in 2022-23.

"The president is looking for a quick fix to a market that is fundamentally broken." Stretching payments over 50 years means families spend more on interest while doing nothing to address the shortage driving prices higher. We need more homes, not more debt. @AlexSJacquez
