We are now man-marking a record 15,700 offenders with electronic tags to keep the public safe.
These tags serve as a constant reminder to thousands of offenders that they are being watched: break the rules and face the consequences.
We’d tagged a record 15,700 offenders and defendants at the end of March 2024. That's a 14% increase since the same time last year.
Tags can steer offenders and defendants away from crime by verifying their location and using their sweat to monitor their alcohol consumption.

Last week we announced new laws to crack down on degrading sexually explicit deepfakes as part of our ongoing determination to end violence against against women and girls.

We’re creating a new offence so anyone deliberately making a sexually explicit ‘deepfake’ image or video of another person without consent can be prosecuted.
If these horrific images are shared, offenders could face jail.

We’re a step closer to levelling the playing field as new legislation to help victims get third party funding for their legal costs has its second reading in Parliament.
