"I've said from the very beginning on this project that we need to center our efforts around those that live within the shadow of the viaduct."
I spoke to Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh about the I-81 Community Grid plan.
My latest for
@dailyorange
:
Woj says that Kevin Durant, James Harden, Joe Tsai and Sean Marks will all be involved in deciding whether or not Kyrie Irving can be a part-time player this season.
Kyrie Irving speaks on the coaching situation: "I don't really see us having a "head" coach. KD could be a head coach, I could be a head coach (some days)."
KD adds: "Jacque Vaughn could be a head coach could do it one day. It's a collaborative effort."
Every Philly leak is like: “The Sixers are aggressively pursuing James Harden, sources say, but refuse to trade a single asset and expect Brooklyn to hand him over for free.”
From
@politicony
: "Kyrie Irving and other unvaccinated athletes will be allowed to play professional sports in New York City under a major policy change Mayor Eric Adams is poised to announce Thursday, sources familiar with the matter confirmed."
Not unlikely that Kyrie Irving has played his last game as a Net. Not sure how much trade value he will garner. Udoka seems to be on hold as well.
Might be time to re-visit moving Durant, recouping value, and moving forward.
Woj: “[Kevin Durant] wanted to get Kyrie Irving a long-term deal in Brooklyn. That didn’t happen.”
He says that after Kyrie Irving couldn’t find a S+T, communication stopped.
Plus, the Nets have been preparing for this for weeks and have already had conversations about this.
Woj: “It wasn't lost on teammates that Harden continued his late-night social habits, especially on the Nets'
last Western Conference trip this month.”
“For a player purporting to have a
hand and hamstring injury, this wasn't inspiring confidence within a team in freefall.”
Kyrie on why KD's absence is different this year: "Well I'm consistently in the lineup, that helps. We also don't have anyone who is halfway in in the locker room."
Most of all, I feel bad for Nets fans. It’s not the biggest fanbase, but there are still a lot of diehards.
It felt like they cared more than the team did tonight.
Context: Woj reported that Harden spent the trade deadline in Houston. He was prematurely ruled out of tonight's Sixers-Cavs games and the Nets players are still waiting for physicals to pass, though clearly not theirs.
House Of Highlights shared the Half Court Hoops Ty Lue breakdown on Instagram, and here’s the response in the comment section.
I just don’t believe that mainstream basketball analysis content won’t be well-received.
I’ve believed it all year, and today’s comments from Adam Silver have only made me more confident —- Kyrie Irving will be playing home games at some point this season.

: "A source with knowledge of Harden’s thinking said he’s frustrated in general with his Nets tenure. He came to Brooklyn expecting to be part of a three-headed monster yet has played a similar role to what was required of him in Houston: having to be the guy."
KD on Simmons: “Incredible. Just happy for him, because he’s been trying to figure his rhythm out. Tonight, I think he did a good job of ... commanding the offense, commanding the team on the defensive side of the ball. He controlled the game and was able to get us back into it.”
BREAKING: Michael Jordan is finalizing a sale of the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall, ending his 13-year run as majority owner, league sources told ESPN on Friday.
From
@WindhorstESPN
: “sources across the league said Monday there absolutely is a chance of a James Harden-Ben Simmons trade happening before 3 p.m. ET Thursday.”
Kyrie Irving last night, in part: "I wanted to finish out the season with Brooklyn, finish out that season we had going and I didn't get a chance to do that."
As a reminder: Irving's representation requested a trade, blindsiding everyone. He would not play until he got moved.
According to Jacque Vaughn’s comments at practice today, the Nets are set to have a completely empty injury report for tomorrow’s game against Golden State.
The first such instance since Irving and Durant signed with the team in 2019.
From
@KevinOConnorNBA
: “Sources say Maxey is totally off the table.”
“I’m told someone like Danny Green is more likely to be included than one of Philly’s young players. Curry is an integral part of the Sixers’ offense, and without Thybulle they’d lack a perimeter stopper.”
Seth Curry will play tomorrow. And even if Dragic doesn’t, he’d be ready by Game 1. It’s starting to sound like Simmons will be back soon too. Things looking up.

confirms Kyrie will not be offered an extension:
“He was willing to sacrifice, at the end of the day, 16 million dollars in salary this upcoming year and 186 million dollars, as far as an extension, that he will not be offered now.”
Kevin Durant wanted James Harden off the Nets partly because of his passivity and lack of agression scoring the ball.
In his final game of the year, Harden scored 11 points on 8 shot attempts.
He didn’t make a field goal in the second half or attempt a two-pointer.
Shams: “There’s expectation that both the 76ers and Nets will engage in dialogue on a deal around Simmons for Harden this week, with Philadelphia holding a chest of role players in Seth Curry, Tyrese Maxey and Matisse Thybulle that could sweeten a potential package.”
