@chakranewz 2/n.. its this very short period ahead where we must resource both lines of effort. Any hesitation and we lose time, when the adversary arrives over the horizon, above and below the water, we cant be found 'wanting and scrambling' for options.

@chakranewz 1/n Spot on. India's freedom of action - geopolitically, strategically and even operationally, (3 years ? and beyond) would depend on our ability to influence, control and actually 'steer' military options available to the 'adversary' in the IOR for which SSNs and UDA are key.

Is Xi Jinping losing sleep over India’s secret weapon? Naval dominance in the Indian Ocean, backed by missile-firing SSNs in contested waters, could force the Malacca dilemma on Beijing. “If we want peace…our forces must influence the choices available in Beijing,” says RAdm K

If one maps Sarah Paine’s continental–maritime framework, with specific choices and actions for New Delhi it would read like this: India must behave as a #maritime trading state with a disciplined #continental deterrent. The sea is India’s #profit centre, the land is India’s
S. C. M. Paine discusses the ongoing “clash between the continental order and the maritime, rules-based order”—and urges Washington to leverage its maritime geography. https://t.co/L4znJifqIZ

Indigenisation on the Waves: How the Indian Navy is Building a Self-Reliant Future I wrote for the @republic I wish, sister services take a serious cue for the IN Indigenisation doctrine, which was adopted way back in the 1970s. It took 50 years. https://t.co/6kOCf427XM

The Indian Navy's focus on indigenisation is transforming India's maritime defence, strengthening self-sufficiency and enhancing national security. By 2040, full self-reliance is expected.

We are a builder's Navy not a buyers one. A vision of Indigenisation envisioned in the 1980s by our commanders. Sister services can learn a lot from the Indian Navy.

Sabse bada Con Kaun
you know how repeated, overlapping pacts only magnifies local confusion and bureaucratic inertia & turns military modernisation into a perpetual external project? #paksomaliadeal and somalia's deal with turkey are exactly that.

Hopefully the Somali leadership will not be conned but the dream that PN is selling to get an operating base in Africa - also the complicity of Pak Armed Forces with narco trafficking groups may be of concern to the world at large - Turkey is irrelevant in IOR
Pakistan and Turkey’s interest in Somalia is matched by their desire for international prestige, not by a record of durable local impact. For Somalia, the MoU might end up another forgotten, failed promise. #PakSomaliaDeal
