My favorite CL Moore factoid: She went by "CL" instead of Catherine not to hide she was a woman - nearly the entire Weird Tales circle knew - but to hide from her bosses at the Indianapolis bank she worked at she used company time and resources to write and mail out her stories.
Today we honor the first lady of fantasy herself, C.L. Moore, born on this day 115 years ago. Along with Howard and Lovecraft, Moore was one of the stable authors of WEIRD TALES, famed for JIREL OF JOIRY and Northwest Smith, icons of sword-and-sorcery and scifi to this day.
