Hot take: just because an author writes about heavier themes, doesn't mean they're condoning those themes, by any means. YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HOME NOW is about CSA, and writing that book was life-changing to me, in that it forced me to see and recognize the impact in my life.

I'd felt for years, that I was SAed as a young child (beyond the couple separate incidents as I was aware of). It wasn't until working on YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HOME NOW, that I realized I had all the trademarks symptoms, and that my childhood amnesia wasn't just ADHD forgetfulness.

I might've known what I was dealing with, been able to recognize that these symptoms were coming from a dissociative disorder caused by severe childhood trauma, and gotten help.

Like, legitimately, if I'd realized as a teen that it's abnormal not to be remember most of your childhood, and I'd been aware of symptoms of DID, and the possibility that a host change from a female to male alter might cause severe dysphoria, I might've known earlier.
