We need to educate upcoming cyber professionals not just about phishing and malware, but about career scams too. To every aspiring cyber analyst reading this: Your skills, your growth, and your passion are worth more than any “processing fee.”

This isn’t just a scam; it’s a psychological trap. It preys on job seekers��� passion and desperation to grow in cybersecurity, an industry built on trust, skill, and resilience. We need to talk about this more openly.

But here’s the truth: 👉 Real recruiters NEVER ask for money. 👉 No company will require you to pay for a résumé review. 👉 And no legitimate HR email comes from Outlook or Gmail.

🚩 Some say “it’s a system error.” 🚩 Others promise your application will “move forward” after you pay. 🚩 They even send well-written rejection letters with “automated system feedback” to make it look official.

The recruiter sounds professional, sometimes even uses a big company name (like Oracle, Microsoft, or Deloitte). Then comes the twist. They tell you your resume has red flags or doesn’t meet company standards, and in a “friendly” tone, they offer to fix it for a small fee.

Let’s talk about something that’s quietly destroying the trust in our cybersecurity job space. In the past few months, I’ve noticed a disturbing pattern and recently experienced it myself. You apply for a “Cybersecurity Specialist” or “Analyst” position that looks legit.
