100% on board with this opinion. There’s so much depth to animation that is ignored in most western game animation. AND this can be done with mocap! We can apply principles of animation to mocap if directors embrace it. Mocap + hand key = future of animation 🔮.
This is a great glimpse into the future of game animation. Embracing fundamentals & applying the principles of animation to create something meaningful. Its time for game anim to move past realism. We are no longer held back by tech or hardware. The craft should lead us forward.

@JamesVietChe1 @PTezoc gave me this anim note sometimes in reviews, especially for the blades of chaos. In the first anim I show, I felt like turning the blade totally sideways didn't make sense, but in gameplay it does help the blade's readability by giving it that bigger shape! Thanks Bert!.

📔Anim Tip #6: More English 🇬🇧. @JamesVietChe1 once told me to “add more english” to my anim. I gave him the most confused look. He smirked, and explained it can be hard to read a weapon when it's in line with the camera, so add “english” by rotating the weapon to see more of it!

📔Anim Tip #5: Hand Shake Layer 🪇. If you flex your arm, you'll feel your muscles vibrate and it shakes your fist. During polish, add a shake anim layer on the IK hand ctrl when the muscles are tight or hit a hard surface. It'll be more powerful, in the same way as camera shake!

📔Anim Tip #4: Use VFX Trails💨. VFX trails allow you to translate your attack over farther distances each frame because the viewer will naturally use the trail as an indicator of where the attack has traveled. It's the same idea as smear frames, but more realistic and snappy!💪
