Very good piece, and it only begins to explore the problems of a London-centric culture. The BBC play a part, but it’s the hands of the wider media to recognise that the north is a place that exists too.
"Reducing opportunities for creatives outside of the capital is choking the airwaves" - In the wake of this month's BBC Introducing closures, @Englishteac_her's Lily Fontaine explains why it’s integral that we unblock the regional pipeline: https://t.co/EAYa8HHzMT

AM and Loyle Carner are the standouts for me. Arlo Parks and The Murder Capital should have made the shortlist too, as should The Japanese House, but you can’t have it all

AM aren’t the band everyone wants them to be but that’s not their fault. They’ve grown up and developed; that’s why they’re headliners. Nobody actually wanted to watch a 37 year old bloke sing about sneaking into nightclubs and winding up police, did they? #glastonbury2023

Music fans: "why doesn't the music press Elevate new bands and give them a chance? Also music fans when it does just that: "why is that new band getting coverage? Must be bought, a conspiracy". Yes it is as dumb as it sounds.

It’s literally the job of NME to be ahead of the curve. @pictureparlour_ are an emerging band who already have a following. Worth remembering Arctic Monkeys had thousands of fans before they released a single. There’s more to it than monthly Spotify listeners.

Tickets are £340.00. £0.00 pounds are being invested into the Pipeline that’s apparently not producing the headliners they need. As always, I’m incredibly easy to contact but my phone and email seems oddly bereft of approaches to solve this issue.
