Baffling. And this only scratches the surface. Terrifying to think this is happening, especially in such a punishing industry and economy. Another example of hard working artists let down by corrupt organisations. It has to end.

‘I became working class […] working in McDonalds’ This is what people don’t get when it comes to class. It’s not JUST what you do/earn. It’s the environment around you, how you grew up, lack of a safety net. It’s cultural, it’s structural, it’s more than numbers on a payslip.
Privately educated Kemi Badenoch says she was from a middle class family but became working class while working in McDonalds. Absolutely fucking deluded.

This work is cultural! We have it ingrained in us that we don’t belong here. But we do, our stories matter, come and get them 🚀

Today an idol of mine read my script and they said they really enjoyed it… HOLY SHIT!!! How many chances do you get to share something you care so much about with your writing hero? Bizarre. Surreal. Not taking it lightly. Catch me bouncing off the walls!✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

people in the arts need to realise saying “they only got that job because they’re global majority” is legit “coming over here and taking our jobs” repackaged racist nonsense.

They want you to think that hate comes from the bottom ‘scum’. But we all know this comes right from the top. Far right talking heads stoke the fires, leading disenfranchised people to turn on each other. These “protestors” don’t speak for us. Not in our name.

Far right thugs attacking black men in the street shouting ‘SAVE OUR KING!’ Save him from what??? He int gonna shag u mate. He’s in a literal palace while you attack someone more similar to you than he will ever be.

The riots and hate on display rn is deplorable, but can we stop with the ‘this is Benefits Britain’ ‘Universal Credit Warriors’ ‘Council Estate Avengers’ stuff? These people do not represent those I know and grew up with. Now is not the time for your classist agenda.

Being autistic or non-white offers no explanation for this horrific violence. But this information can be used by bad people to fuel their already established hate towards marginalised people. Don’t let that be the narrative.
The reporting that almost feels expected but is still gutting every time it emerges. When violence occurs, especially VAWG, I always hold a bit of fear as an autistic person that there will be a moment that an autism diagnosis is used as context in explaining the why.

We are utterly heartbroken by the passing of Garry Robson, BOP co-Artistic Director from 2012 til 2017. Garry was an incredible actor, writer and director as well as being a huge force for disability arts in the UK and around the world.
