It rings in my mind: the person you’ll marry will possibly be around to help you mourn- it could be the loss of your parent(s), a friend, a job, business, opportunities. What kind of person would you like to have beside you? And how will you help them when it’s their turn?.

I’ve not lived too long but I’ve seen marriages built majorly on procreation and they cracked. So you have the kids, what next? Do you enjoy speaking to each other? Gossip? Laughter? Meals? Ranting and venting? Comforting during stressful periods? How do you help in mourning? Etc.

That’s why I get amused when people tell me, “Marry fast so you’ll have children to keep you company.”. Yes I can have children but that spousal companionship is more important to me. Kids can pop in when it’s time.
The greatest value of marriage for me, is the bet of friendship and nothing reveals how precious and necessary that is, than adulthood. To have someone who is even willing to listen to you and understand you at all, is nothing short of a miracle.
