Despite growing recognition of PHC’s importance, negative perceptions persist among both providers and patients. Strengthening PHC in crisis zones means addressing trust, coordination, and capacity — from the ground up.

As someone from Hama, your words deeply resonate with me. The stillness, resilience, and untold struggles of this city are etched into every corner. Thank you for capturing these moments and shedding light on a history and present that must not be forgotten.
Hama is the site of the notorious 1982 massacre, when the regime surrounded the city and killed at least 30,000 of its residents. Not one family was spared. This served as deterrence against future uprisings. To see signs of Syria’s freedom today from this city is mesmerizing.

After 14 years, I returned to Hama - the birthplace of my parents and the homebase of my entire extended family. Familiar corners bring waves of nostalgia, but the weight of time and change is undeniable. The most significant change? Signs of freedom everywhere.

#Douma #chlorine attack by #Assad regime 2018 “We were silenced against our will … now we can talk.” The #Syrian people will always deserve better than the brutal regime For those who didn’t speak up at the time of these crimes, now is not the time for your misguided opining
The survivors of Assad’s 2018 chemical weapons attack on Douma, using chlorine to kill at least 43, are finally able to speak out freely.

Most of #Syria’s population suffered at the hands of the regime - the numerous #massacres, forced disappearances, shelling, millions displaced, children born into squalor and conflict. It will take decades to know the full horrors of the last decades & more for people to heal
The freedom Syrians are realizing today only came after a million killed, hundreds of thousands disappeared, and half displaced. It wasn’t free and it wasn’t easy, but it finally came around only through their efforts Today, they celebrate. Tomorrow, the rebuilding starts.
