I wish as academics we could focus on producing evidence and not waste time reformatting. I am glad this has now been quantified. But I would like to think these may reflect a lower bound on the true cost as there is an extensive margin as well. I have a whole trail of perfectly

What. The. Hell. Extreme House Republicans want to cut funding for low-income schools by 80%. This is the same party that passed $1.9 trillion in tax cuts for the rich. When it’s for the poor, we can’t afford it. When it’s for the rich, it’s business as usual.

This was the front page of UNC-Chapel Hill's Daily Tar Heel. No student, no parent, and no American should have to send texts like these to their loved ones as they hide from a shooter. I'll continue to do all I can to reduce gun violence and call on Congress to do the same.

The front page of tomorrow's @dailytarheel – I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours. Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.

How can we simultaneously call ourselves the greatest nation and not recognize life is precious? Thanks @hholdenthorp for the editorial, which is now more timely than ever.

It's time to prioritize commonsense gun safety measures that combat the heartbreaking gun violence epidemic. The Department of Justice must take bold action against violent extremists threatening our society. There's nothing more that we desire than a safer future for all.

This is back to school in America. Run, hide, fight. Jump out of windows. Barricade behind doors in classrooms, dorms and bathrooms. Duck and cover. Hide under desks. Text your parents goodbye.

So we’re clear: The Supreme Court ended affirmative action yesterday by saying you CAN’T discriminate by helping a minority group, then turned around today and said you CAN discriminate by hurting them.

The court's decision is clear: if you have a "back door connection" based on legacy and connection with employees [read as more likely to be ⚪️] - then affirmative action is ok. But if you have been systematically discriminated against, then you're on your own. #America
