Would you leave home if home was hateful, or harmful, or not safe for your kids? Refugee protection isn't a political issue. It's a not left-wing or right-wing issue. It's a human rights issue and human rights should not be political.

In January, Canada opened a temporary visa program for Gazans. Today, thousands of individuals who applied are still waiting in Gaza. How does it work and why is it so hard to leave? My thoughts on today's episode of the CANADALAND podcast. https://t.co/tUSDix1OtA

Canada’s official visa process has not helped a single person leave Gaza.

An "Access to Justice Act" from a government that cut all legal aid funding for immigration and refugee law services in 2019. No comment on the substance of the Act (outside my bailiwick), but the priorities of @fordnation's government are clear and they don't include A2J #cdnimm
Ontario has passed the Enhancing Access to Justice Act. This act will increase access to justice for victims of crime, strengthen cannabis regulation to protect children and youth, enhance community safety and make court services more efficient. 🔗: https://t.co/Y472kxfFII

It's World Refugee Day. I was a refugee. Many forget that I had a happy life -like everyone- before that. I lost everything and now I am a proud Syrian-Canadian entrepreneur. That's my story of second chances & new beginnings. Becoming a refugee is not a choice or a dream.

Great thread from @AlexNeve24 on the #STCA ruling. There's a lot of half full and half empty in the decision. The fight isn't over.
The #STCA ruling is out. First, huge shoutout to the incredible legal team for the appellants, who have advanced amazing rights-based lawyering over the past 5 years, and gratitude & respect to the appellants, especially the individual applicants. 1/16

CARL'S Advocacy Co-Chair @ASadinsky: There is still an open question as to whether the agreement is constitutional. The decision leaves open the possibility that the asylum pact between the two countries could be struck down. https://t.co/7o6Ncxjx3V

The Supreme Court ruling rejects in part arguments that a Canada-US asylum pact was unconstitutional.
