A man has been sentenced in connection with the handling of stolen rural equipment. Charlie Hughes, of Fosse Way, Ilchester, was sentenced for four counts of handling stolen goods after officers recovered one stolen tractor and three stolen trailers.

Three men were sentenced on Friday after thousands of pounds worth of stolen agricultural machinery were discovered in Somerset. In 2022, officers investigating the theft of machinery found stolen items on two separate occasions. Read more:

A man has appeared in court charged with assault following an incident in relation to a hunt last year. Steven Paul, of Church Lane, Yeovil, was at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Monday. The incident was on Thursday 3 November in Limington.

On Wednesday, Chief Constable Sarah Crew joined the Rural Affairs Unit at a crime prevention event at Frome Market. The RAU marked 23 trailers in the space of four hours, with each marking taking around 10 minutes. Read more here ⬇️ .

An arrest has been made as part of an investigation into badger sett interference and badger baiting. A man, 28, was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of wildlife crimes, possession of a class B drug and being in possession of offensive weapons.
