Excellent piece by @lwhitmarsh & @samhampton 💭 It's unhelpful to promise we can reach climate targets without 'telling people how to live their lives'. 1. Enabling lifestyle changes is essential 2. The govt should make changes easier & cheaper 3. Action can improve wellbeing🌍

Can a virtual reality game convince people to go easy on the antibiotics? 💊 @APlechata , Guido Makransky and @robert_bohm find big increases in intentions to be prudent w/ antibiotics after a VR experience. This could help combat antimicrobial resistance. https://t.co/3qHSZvMNpD

Much like our previous study on promoting climate-friendly eating, we found that increased efficacy beliefs explain the impact of experiential communication. ( https://t.co/60Lewr8Agm) (4/5)

In our RCT, we tested three conditions: 1️⃣ Leaflet Information – information via a leaflet. 2️⃣ VR Information – the same information from a virtual doctor 3️⃣ VR Information + Experience – an interactive game involving treatment decisions and witnessing the consequences. (2/5)

Our study highlights the power of experiential communication in shaping efficacy beliefs. Experiencing the impact of our choices firsthand—both positive and negative—on the environment is far more impactful than simply receiving information about it. (3/4) #ClimateAction

Key Findings: Experiential communication increased self-efficacy and response efficacy. Participants showed not only greater intentions to adopt plant-based diets but also ate less beef in a real-life buffet compared to the information-based condition. (2/4)
