What hasn’t made headlines (yet): @CAGovernor and #CAleg have an urgent mandate to create a comprehensive transition plan for refinery closures, invest in fenceline communities and workers, and ensure no one is left behind. Will @CAGovernor and #CALeg meet that call to action?.

The oil industry made this mess. Now, they want permission to continue fleecing California taxpayers and consumers – and, as a bonus, slash regulations, cut corners, and endanger Californians. We can’t let Big Oil shake down California on their way out.

We must follow the leadership of EJ groups in the Valley directly impacted by dirty drilling, and the many groups that have spent over a decade facing down threats of unchecked drilling expansion – groups like @CRPE_EJ, @CCEJN and @CenValAir.

Let’s be clear - fast-tracking thousands of oil and gas wells with only a *single* environmental review further pollutes the air and water in some of California’s most overburdened communities *and* risks deepening our dependence on fossil fuels.

So, what happened this week? Yesterday, @CalEnergy held a hearing on their initial plan to get us out of this hostage situation. But there’s more work to do. Among other things, this plan could lead to a massive expansion of oil and gas drilling in Kern County.

What’s happening: In the last year, two refineries in CA have announced plans to close – and Big Oil is taking the opportunity to shakedown taxpayers and maximize profits on their way out, making Californians foot the bill for their pollution ❌❌

Yesterday, @Politico ran an article about this week’s @CalEnergy meeting claiming that climate and environmental justice groups are lining up behind a plan that would “pump the brakes” on the transition away from fossil fuels. It’s time to set the story straight ⬇️⬇️

This is not a normal #EarthDay. As the Trump regime guts environmental protections, censors public data, and gives billionaires free reign to pollute, we need to step up the fight for our homes, families, and future.

Try as they might, billionaires can’t extinguish our movements for a future beyond oil and gas – where everyone breathes clean air, free from the fear of refinery disasters. We’ll fight these oil giants in the courts, just as we fight their pollution in our communities.

“Sierra Club V. EPA” rejects Trump’s attempt to erase environmental justice from government records. The lawsuit argues that Trump has confiscated “essential tools” from communities on the frontlines of poverty, pollution, and climate disaster.

Their goal: confiscate and censor tools that advocates use to stop big polluters from making us sick – and that provided residents with critical information about toxins in their backyards. Now, environmental and climate groups are fighting back with a major lawsuit.

The Trump regime can’t delete a movement. So they’re trying to censor it. Trump's EPA has axed references to climate change and cut critical resources, including pollution maps, from federal websites – continuing an assault on public health and our hopes of a livable future.

From Richmond to Los Angeles, frontline communities have fought decades of toxic dumping and built new legacies of grassroots organizing. From buffer zones between homes and oil wells, to taxing major polluters, to winning solar for tenants, our movement has held its ground.

Trump is trying to censor #EnvironmentalJustice – but climate groups are punching back. On #EarthDay, a reminder that everyone, no matter their race, class, zip-code or homeland, should be able to breathe clean air and drink clean water.

But we also take inspiration from the legacies of resistance in our homelands. We know that by standing together, we can defeat authoritarianism. Join us in demanding that the Trump regime release Mahmoud:
