Right now, lawmakers in #CAleg are considering how to plan for refinery closures and a transition away from fossil fuels. We need your support. Contact your legislators to demand they oppose the oil shakedown and stand up for our health and our climate:.

What hasn’t made headlines (yet): @CAGovernor and #CAleg have an urgent mandate to create a comprehensive transition plan for refinery closures, invest in fenceline communities and workers, and ensure no one is left behind. Will @CAGovernor and #CALeg meet that call to action?.

We must follow the leadership of EJ groups in the Valley directly impacted by dirty drilling, and the many groups that have spent over a decade facing down threats of unchecked drilling expansion – groups like @CRPE_EJ, @CCEJN and @CenValAir.

So, what happened this week? Yesterday, @CalEnergy held a hearing on their initial plan to get us out of this hostage situation. But there’s more work to do. Among other things, this plan could lead to a massive expansion of oil and gas drilling in Kern County.

What’s happening: In the last year, two refineries in CA have announced plans to close – and Big Oil is taking the opportunity to shakedown taxpayers and maximize profits on their way out, making Californians foot the bill for their pollution ❌❌

Billion dollar giveaways for Big Oil and more toxic pollution in frontline communities. It's time to end California #CapAndTrade handouts to #BigOil and invest in fossil-free transportation and the climate and affordability solutions our communities so desperately need. #CAleg.
✨ NEW from @elliemcohen1 in @Capitol_Weekly: Ending polluter giveaways in CA's Cap and Trade program will help cut climate pollution, clean up the air, and shift the burden of paying for climate costs from taxpayers to wealthy corporations. More 👉

“Sierra Club V. EPA” rejects Trump’s attempt to erase environmental justice from government records. The lawsuit argues that Trump has confiscated “essential tools” from communities on the frontlines of poverty, pollution, and climate disaster.

The removal of websites designed to help disadvantaged communities will hurt those communities the most, lawyers argue.

Trump is trying to censor #EnvironmentalJustice – but climate groups are punching back. On #EarthDay, a reminder that everyone, no matter their race, class, zip-code or homeland, should be able to breathe clean air and drink clean water.
