Even with VAR making the recommendation for an on-field review (if that was the error); there was still a chance to protect against it - the referee could have stuck with the original on-field decision. Much focus seems to be on the former, less on the latter.
Fulham defender Antonee Robinson has taken to Instagram to criticise the standard of refereeing in the Premier League. Referees chief Howard Webb spoke to Fulham following their game against Chelsea to declare the decision to rule out Josh King's first-half goal was an error.

Not going to say how the police and CPS made the #AJ47 decision (I think they’re right), but I suspect that, if as a prosecutorial authority you know you need (at worst) 9 of 12 reasonable people to agree that the case is proven beyond all doubt; you’re just not going to on this.
Used to figure skate when I was younger, and you always ran the risk that if you got clipped, or lost your toe rake in the ice then you’d lose your balance and go flying. Quite what would happen to my other leg and the blade on my other foot, I’m not sure I’d have control of.

Arriva got a new crayon set for Easter given the routing they’ve proposed. Shame they haven’t used them to draw a line on the graph tho.
Arriva Group has submitted open access rail application to connect Newcastle and Brighton, via London Gatwick. Could start in December 2026. No traction initially mentioned.
