💡 Hormonal status can influence emotion and fear processing. 💡 PMS symptoms can serve as a marker of sensitivity for menstrual cycle effects on emotion processing. 💡 IUD use appear to have differential effects on emotion processing compared to OCs. 4/4

😨 For fear acquisition and extinction (recall), we found less danger/safety cue differentiation in IUD users and in the mid-luteal phase (more fear generalization). Higher PMS symptom reports meant higher fear throughout the cycle and experiment. https://t.co/vYx9HGxef1 3/4

🤔 Patterns of EEG signals during emotion reactivity®ulation indicated better regulation capacity in the mid-follicular phase, but reduced emotion regulation in the mid-luteal phase (specifically with higher PMS symptoms) and in OC users. https://t.co/9SZAtitf86 2/4

What happens when you follow the menstrual cycle and collect daily well-being reports and salivary samples? Our new pre-print!
What is the effect of menstrual cycle and sex hormones on mood, sexual desire, sleep and appetite? See our preprint: https://t.co/dC1uRHRgw0 We followed naturally cycling females and OC users for 28 days with daily measurements @AM_Doornweerd

This article is a must read for anyone interested in hormones and mental health! Multidimensionality for the win. Just in time to change this ref from 'preprint' to 'published' in my dissertation discussion for my studies in the general pop- coming soon-ish!
My and @eisenlohr_moul's Dimensional Affective Sensitivity to Hormones across the Menstrual Cycle (DASH-MC) framework has been published in @molpsychiatry! We aim to reshape how we study and treat #PMDD, #PME, and other forms of hormone sensitivity. 🧵 https://t.co/ghLgreO7Bg

This year’s economic sciences laureate Claudia Goldin showed that female participation in the labour market did not have an upward trend over a 200 year period, but instead forms a U-shaped curve. The participation of married women decreased with the transition from an agrarian
