A year ago, amidst the far right riots targeting asylum seekers & minorities, the Board of Deputies stood up and spoke up. This year, when the same forces have redoubled their efforts, they are nowhere to be seen. So much for @PhilR_R's one-way "Optimistic Alliance".
Attacks on Muslims, Black people, members of other minorities, and our brave police officers, are totally unacceptable, and we stand in solidarity with all affected. As a society, we have to be better than this. We will play our full part in this effort.

The need for a clear alternative asylum policy has never been more apparent. British people understand rights, fairness, our historic role, and the economic benefits. Stop playing footsie with the radical right, and make the case.

To be fair to @RobertJenrick, at least he is consistent. Has nothing to say about this country's heroism in welcoming refugees from Nazi persecution and certain death.
Congratulations to the people of Epping! . They protested. They were smeared. But they have won. The solution, however, cannot be to move the illegal migrants and force them on another community. This has gone on far too long. The country is well past breaking point. The last

I would've imagined that being so concerned about being labelled by someone who doesn't know you would give you pause for thought. Maybe, @RobertJenrick, you shouldn't be so quick to judge vulnerable people who just want a safe place to call home?.
On BBC Radio 4 this morning listeners were told that if you're concerned about the threat of illegal migrants to your kids, you're racist. Wrong. You’re a good parent.

Out there, in the real world, welcoming communities are the norm. Hatemongers try to bully groups who work with @CityofSanctuary because they are scared they've lost the argument. More power to COS and to the volunteers who make their vital work possible!.
Let's take a moment to celebrate the incredible @CityofSanctuary movement. While a hateful minority spends their time whipping up division, this network of thousands dedicates their time to fostering welcome and kindness. They represent the UK that we're proud to be part of.

At least have the courage to condemn the Rabbis if you're going to write a statement this bad. Laughing in the face of communal solidarity.
At times like this it is vital that our community allows different voices to be heard. All of us are supporters of Israel, all of us wish to see the hostages return and all want to see peace in the region. How that will be achieved is complex and there are many different.

Condemning the behaviour and not reflecting on the fact you shared a platform with supporters of Tommy Robinson etc. is like writing statements against car accidents but refusing to support car safety legislation.
“We deplore the way a section of the crowd treated the Co-Chief Executive Rabbis of Progressive Judaism today, and that they were asked to leave the stage.”. Our full comment on scenes at the hostage rally today:

Rabbis Charley & Josh standing up at a far right-led demo and saying Palestinians deserve basic dignity is an act of bravery standing on the shoulders of the cowards who believe we have common cause with fascists and their enablers. Will any of our supposed leaders reflect?.

I am proud to continue the welcoming tradition of our country that Rupert desperately try to break. Now, take one look at the rancid antisemitism in the replies to his tweet and mine, and see the sheer nativist bigotry he traffics in for yourself.
@AJSchonfield Criticising Islam’s influence in Britain is not ‘grotesque nativism.’. I note your involvement in various ‘refugee’ and ‘migrant’ organisations, so perhaps you are somewhat conflicted.
