How to use the dataset: get creative! 💡🔬.This data now belongs to the community 👫🦇👬.⚠️☠️ Reads ≠ Abundance .Avoid the trap – metabarcoding it’s not recommended for quantitative analysis🤓.

Happy to share this work on the hunting behavior of greater mouse-eared bats 🦇🌕.Turns out, they like a big, chunky beetle even though they are much harder to catch than smaller moths .@AHubancheva @YovelBatLab @batsmoths .@eLife

Haha, I never thought my research could involve so much drama! 😜 Nevermind - seeing my beloved bats under the spotlights warms my heart like nothing else ❤️ 🦇(well. maybe the emotional voice of Benedict Cumberbatch helps a bit🤭).

The ability to adapt is crucial — animals must outsmart their enemies to survive. #SuperNaturalSeries, from director @JimCameron and narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, is now streaming on @DisneyPlus.

We are humans, we are susceptible to biases. But we are also scientist - we can do better than that 🙃.

Massive status bias in peer review. 534 reviewers randomized to review the same paper revealing the low status, high status, or neither author. 65% reject low status, 23% reject high status. Amazing work by Juergen Huber and colleagues. #prc9

5/5 We demonstrate that even species with limited cognitive abilities, i.e. bushcrickets, are capable of carefully balancing the costs and the benefits of reproduction and survival by making different choices throughout their lifetime. Quite impressive for a tiny 🦗, isn't it?.

4/5 Here we quantified how a prey species 🦗 trades off survival against mate attraction over the course of its lifetime under realistic predator🦇 attacks with different levels of predation threat.

3/5 Every time when a courting animal detects the presence of a predator it has to decide what to do based on two factors – what is the likelihood to get eaten if it continues courting and how big are its chances to secure a mate based on current and future expectations.

2/5 Reproduction and survival are the 🔑 components to 🔝 fitness. However, many species have to choose between one or the other, and they have to do so often.
