Since the start of the year 115 newspapers have closed around Australia. A few of us in the Upper Hunter decided to buck the trend and, as of today, I’m proud to announce that I’m now the Deputy Editor of The Hunter River Times.

A leader by name and nature during the Geelong Supercats' golden era of the mid 2000s. During his school visits to Clairvaux he would be modest about his experience as a past player so that his current stars of the time could enjoy the fanfare on the way to ABA glory. RIP
Vale Mark Leader. The NBL is saddened to hear of the passing of Mark Leader. Mark played 327 NBL games, scored over 4,000 points and won two championships with the North Melbourne Giants. Our thoughts go out to the Leader family and those who were close to him at this time.

A pleasure as Singleton’s youngest Rotarian to stand beside Harry Dorsman, Singleton’s oldest Rotarian, at today’s Rembrance Day ceremony. The WWII veteran had the honour of unveiling one of the plinths at Burdekin Park. He also turned 100 on Wednesday!
