Yes I have additional needs, and do use the NHS all too regularly. But I feel I do have a use and do try and give back. Such attitudes as these are why disabled people lack the confidence.

Interesting take. I’m disabled, have worked in social care, a charity, been a CEO and now work in the NHS. plus I am a high performance voluntary sports coach in my spare time, and train coaches. And undertaking research into tech to help people with my disability.

Still a consultant engineer at 79, and still the most amazing man and above all, dad. An inspiration to us all. We are so proud of him and love him so much.

Also on the side as hobbies, worked with Reynard Racing as one of the original team that set it up whilst in university and mechanic, was a high performance coach in other sports, and the most amazing dad to his 7 kids. It’s so easy to brag about him as he has done SO much more.

Left school at 16, started engineering apprenticeship. Became chief engineer at ISIS @RutherfordApLab , assisting with building CERN, and responsible for building the ISIS particle accelerator (and its various iterations). MBE for services to engineering.

It’s Friday. Was told to finish an hour early today (had already worked 60+ hours but that’s usual). Did the usual “no I’m fine, not tired at all, so much to do etc…” But finished. Then realised actually how tired I was. Think I’m getting old.

Happy to give @catdeeley @ITV some insights into what having epilepsy really means for our lives - what our reality looks like. It’s not just the seizures but they are a huge part and really not something to make fun of.

I do occasionally laugh about having epilepsy - not because it’s funny in any way but it makes friends less scared of me. But it doesn’t mean it’s ok for people on national TV - epilepsy has serious consequences - it’s really isn’t something to laugh about. #reducethestigma

The main annoyance about #epilepsy for me at the moment: the random uncontrolled jerks that mean I throw coffee over me and constantly bite through by cheeks and lips. Ok there are many other worse annoyances, but this week this has been a nightmare.
